Position Summary

The Education Manager is responsible for delivering core initiatives that energizes and enables a team of Educators as well as the Retail Specialists. He/She will instruct, educate demonstrate and customize the total Tom Ford luxury experience for the TR environment. The position requires the Education Manager to support the Regional Brand Director on the business, ensuring the ideal marriage of the luxury experience, artistry and commerce.


  • Work closely with Regional Director in understanding strategic focus and growth objectives, thereby working with Education team and Specialists in developing training road-maps to support business goals.

  • Key ambassador for Tom Ford Beauty. Instrumental in motivating, creating enthusiasm and inspiring loyalty and commitment to the brand

  • Be an advocate for Tom Ford beauty in the digital space

  • Uphold the highest luxury experience in-store, via coaching and mentoring and hiring the best Education team and Tom Ford Specialists.

  • Ensure alignment with education team in New York and/or Regional to customize training programs and tools to suit the needs of the TR APAC environment.

  • Build relationship and leverage on affiliate regional education team/affiliate education team to support the training needs of TR APAC field team where possible.


  1. Translating business objectives into training needs
  • Understanding the business priorities and its implication on the field selling approach. Identify training needs and mapping them against specific training tools and time frame to realize a roadmap towards the achievement of business goals.

  • Support the Area Sales Managers in interviewing and hiring the best Tom Ford Specialists

  • Coach and mentor Education team in identifying individual regional needs, retailer specific needs in order to cascade and execute training road map.

  • Establish strong foundation of product knowledge and artistry skills

  • Conduct counter visits and on-counter coaching where permitted. Work in store with Tom Ford Specialists to demonstrate product knowledge and imparting the Tom Ford Beauty luxury experience

  • Discuss training objectives with Account Coordinator/ Area Sales Manager to identify training needs

  • Localize training programs and inject creativity into programs to ensure that selling techniques are suitable in travel retail environment

  • Impart housekeeping and counter maintenance guidelines.

  1. Training of Generic staff:
  • Customization of training tools to adapt to generic staff learning styles

  • Localize training program to create an interesting learning environment for generic staff in order to prompt participation and be fully immersed with Tom Ford Beauty

  1. Basic School, Seasonal Training
  • Conduct basic school for all new hires to indoctrinate brand philosophies, assess makeup skills, and ensure coverage of product information.

  • Conduct 2 seasonal training per year in tandem with marketing calendar new programs.

  • Conduct at least 1 training per quarter (in addition to seasonal training) to recap and polish artistry skills.

  • Coordinate with Education Managers of relevant affiliates to collaborate on training where necessary.

  • Working with Education team to ensure consistency of training materials

  1. Special Events
  • Work with Marketing and Sales team in order to provide on-site support for special events.

  • Work in tandem with Sales Team on pre-event/re-promote/launch training requirement and collateral for the Tom Ford Specialist in order to maximize event impact.

  • Work with Marketing and Sales team to provide workshop support.

  • Working with trainers to develop training modules to support events, in order to ensure that brand standards are adhered to, and a proper event protocol is put in place.

  1. Grooming Standards and Image
  • Ensure the Regional team, Education team and Tom Ford Beauty Specialists adhere to brand image requirements and maintain a high standard of grooming

  • Ensure that counter standards (in terms of housekeeping and maintenance) is adhered to.

  • Coordinate uniforms needs twice a year for field team through global purchase or local sourcing

  1. Mentoring and Coaching
  • Mentor and coach Education team and Account Coordinators in areas of training and selling skills.

  • Regular feedback and evaluation sessions with trainers and Account Coordinators via the ASMs

  • Systematic coaching with new trainers – tandem training if needed.

  • Working with trainers on reporting format and feedback following trainings and sharing the results with sales/marketing teams

  1. Others
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with retailers in order to smoothen processes of arranging training schedules.

  • Establish and maintain good working relationship with Marketing and Sales teams, as well as regional colleagues in training team in order to maximize leverage.

  • Plan, control, monitor and adhere to the training expense budget

  • Oversee the organizing of the Education Conference



  • Preferably a University degree holder

  • Possess a true passion for luxury

  • Digitally savvy

  • Strong presentation skills, flexible, high energy and the ability to motivate others

  • Minimum 5 years in a managerial training position and 5-10 years training experience within the cosmetics, luxury or travel retail industry

  • Strong knowledge of skincare and makeup artistry skills.

  • Knowledge and prior experience in the fragrance industry is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to communicate fluently in Mandarin is a plus (written and oral, in traditional and simplified Chinese)

  • Strong leadership skills and an excellent team player

  • Willingness to travel (50-80%)
