Responsible for architectural design, detailing and management of the brands (Origins/Aveda/Darphin), at point of sale for Asia/Pacific domestic retail distributions. Assists Director to manage store design division and team, to provide leadership role and direction to team and vendors.


Ensures Brand’s image is maintained at a consistent level of excellence within guidelines set forth by New York in order to achieve a cohesive effect in terms of architecture, detailing and merchandising layouts.

Provides designs, technical drawings and specifications to market and chosen shopfitter for every new installation.

Consults with local Brand Managers to ensure best locations within stores; analyzes traffic flow to guarantee customer interaction; analyzes architectural features that may enhance or distract from location; inspects sites to ensure cohesive design and speeds approval process.

Educates affiliates and distributors to choose locations that best suit the brands’ needs; helps affiliates understand technical aspects of store design, (ie. reading drawings, explaining architectural terminology), educates and checks for completeness of project request forms and the overall process.

Educates new and existing shopfitters and updates them on new techniques, details and directions for Estee Lauder store design. Responsible as the interpreter of all designs.

Collaborates with Indirect Procurement on cost optimization and price templates. Investigates, evaluates and qualifies new shopfitters for future markets and projects as needed

Communicates with regional design groups on store appearance; informs all parties involved of any updates and / or revisions to standard details.

Develops “Punch List” (List of deficiencies) for each installation to ensure the compliance with design set.

Files and keeps clear, understandable records and project management tools of all stores for future use by Brand Managers, Merchandising and Store Design. Support Administrator for transmittal of electronic files for central archival purposes in New York.

Provides guidance to junior designers or new joins within the region by induction/orientation, and manage circulation list for updating the wider SDVM network and vendors.

Work closely with Visual Merchandising team and other functions as needed to ensure complete, synergized and articulated store presentation.


College / University graduate in Design or Art School education preferred; creative and has had formal training in architecture or interior design.

Minimum 8 years of experience in Interior or Architectural detailing and design. Candidates with relevant experience in the beauty and luxury industry will be an added advantage.

Able to design and draw scaled working construction drawing.

Experience on CAD programs preferably on Macintosh platform, and skilled in VectorWorks and Photoshop.

Understands retail store design aspects, ie. lighting, furniture design, detailing fixtures, etc. as well as the importance of maintaining consistency.

Manages time and team productivity, by challenging current processes and proposing better methods, communication and collaboration processes.

Good communications skill

Boosts and supports initiatives and changes, and able to lead and act on the set direction.

Presents in a professional manner; has an understanding of corporate image and conduct.

Has experience in graphics, layouts and interior signage; has an understanding of traffic flow and human scale.

Must be adaptable to new computer technology and design programs.

Willing to travel often and sometimes on short notice.
