Shade match formulas in new and existing bases, develop new formulations as well as maintain current products within established timelines with some supervision. Manage and track all aspects of developing projects accurately from bench to pilot and production. Work well with team members, support team decisions, share ideas. Build good relationships, communicate and interact with internal and external customers. Provide technical support to production when needed.


  • Developing new formulations with some supervision

  • Independently maintain and/or improve existing formulas including troubleshooting.

  • Search for and investigate new raw materials and incorporate into new formulations

  • Shade match to prototypes

  • Track and manage project details from lab bench to pilot and production against established timelines.

  • Interact with both internal and external customers during the product development process. (Pilot Engineering, Production, QA, Product Development, Raw Material Vendors, etc.)

  • Interact with PD for product prototype development for shade extensions and new products.

  • Proficient with RDS release steps for the release of formulas preferred.

  • Follow all company SOP's related to job requirements

  • Assist less experienced staff in developing colour matching skills.



  • Master of Cosmetic Science required


  • Minimum 1 year of colour cosmetics experience

  • Expert colour matching skills

  • Over the counter (OTC) product formulation and regulatory affairs experience in OTC Products

  • International experience in a work setting preferred

  • Estee Lauder Cosmetics experience preferred

  • Experience within Manufacturing, Supply Chain / R&D environments preferred

  • Knowledge of Mircosoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Functional Competencies:

  • Hands on lab skills, WHMIS knowledge, GMP skills, computer skills, operation of lab equipment such as, pH Meter, scale, viscometer, mixers/blenders, powder pressing and blending equipment.

  • Expert interpretation of colour and ability to troubleshoot.

  • Communication / Interpersonal: English language proficiency; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Excellent problem solving skills; Excellent time management skills

  • Light to medium lifting - pails and boxes 10kg or less. May require long hours of standing when preparing lab batches. Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment may require some light lifting. Able to cope in a demanding fast pace stressful laboratory environment. Maintain a clean laboratory working environment

  • Excellent project management, writing and oral communication skills;

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Fluency in French highly preferred.
