The Manager, Facilities Services is responsible for the oversight of daily building operations management with a focus on quality, timely execution and budget adherence. In addition, the management of annual capital project execution of projects ranging up to 2 million dollars including creation of comprehensive project plans from concept through closeout. Provides a primary point of contact with a variety of external technical vendors, design firms and consultants as required to support both daily operations and project implementation. Responsible for building systems management including electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, etc and the upkeep of all associated documentation. Works cross-functionally with Project Engineering and site leadership meeting business goals and strategies.



  • Direct and manage Facilities Services functions under their responsibility in accordance with established corporate & local management policies, procedures and objectives.

  • Provide general and specific direction to direct reports in order to meet short and long term business and personal development goals.

  • Develop and manage direct reports Performance Development Plans that are in support of the business strategy and the individual’s continued growth.

Operations Management

  • Executes all Facilities related activities for multiple sites with a focus on HVAC, life safety systems, building security systems, external contractor management and timely building repairs.

  • Ensures operational standards for cost, quality, environmental, health and safety are met.

  • Leverages industry standards and best practices for environmental energy reduction and carbon footprint partnered with the EAS department.

  • Ensures buildings meet cGMP compliance standards and targets with respect to building services.

  • Works with Indirect Procurement to ensure optimization of contract service providers with a focus on quality and cost.

  • Directs resources to effectively manage department budgets with a focus on cost optimization.

Project Management

  • Drives the execution of annual capital project budget of approx. $2 million with full oversight of all phases of from concept, design, budgets, resources requirements and project close-out.

  • Creates and executes detailed project plans that include detailed milestone schedules; ensures all projects are on time and net budget.

  • Ensures all financial policies and procedures are rigidly adhered in the procurement of equipment, tendering of contracts and distribution of funds.

  • Maintains 3 year capital budget aligned with corporate and site strategies.

Equipment and Asset Management

  • Manages the overall preventative maintenance programs for key infrastructure ensuring compliance to all cGMP and Safety standards (compressors, boiler, water systems, process equipment, etc.)

  • Develops documented systems to improve the equipment reliability and asset life.

  • Ensures asset lifespan is tracked and timing of replacements included in 3 year capital plan and associated long term strategies.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure complete compliance with all statutory and corporate EHS policies eg. PPE, WHIMS, GMP, ISO 140001, etc.



  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a Business, Engineering, or technical related field.

  • P. Eng. preferred, PMP preferred


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Facilities/Engineering leadership role

  • Experience within Manufacturing, Supply Chain / R&D environments preferred

  • Demonstrated history of managing large scale and complex capital projects with a focus on construction and process installations

  • Must have familiarity with equipment maintenance, auxiliary and building equipment and construction management / project management experience.

  • Must be proficient in electronic project management techniques, leading through influence, and working in a cross-functional environment.

  • Demonstrated people management capability in an organization employing 200 associates with a track record of building human capital; team building, interpersonal skills, communication and negotiation.

  • Must have a record of driving organizational change, implementing energy reduction, lean and continuous improvement principles, and delivering net budget plans.

  • Very strong analytical capabilities.

  • Experience working in a consumer packaged goods environment with a focus on cosmetics, pharma or food manufacturing.
