Primary purpose of position is to bring technical knowledge and hands-on expertise in the formulation of dermatological actives as well as their delivery of immediate and long-term skin care benefits into our Material Science and Technology group at a leadership level and help drive disruptive innovation aligned with the corporation's strategic and business objectives

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead group of scientists in developing novel, commercializable innovations in Material Science that drive the delivery of breakthrough skin care benefits in our prestige cosmetic products

  • Assist the VP, Material Science and Technology in defining a strategy for breakthrough innovation in skin, hair and color care for ELC

  • Maximize the utilization of internal and external technical resources to bring speed to our projects and breakthrough levels of benefit to our ELC products

  • Keep pace with developments in the material and bioactive delivery sciences and identify and assess emerging innovation opportunities and partners

  • Nurture and develop a group of scientists and future technical leaders that can provide a sustained output of innovations for ELC brands




Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, Pharmacology or related disciplines


10 years industrial experience, preferably in the control of the fate of active ingredients, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics


  • Ability to define technical strategy and direct and execute a technical program that quickly assesses new innovation opportunities

  • Demonstrated record of delivering to the marketplace innovative products within critical timelines and resources

  • Proven record of leadership in directing a multidisciplinary, matrix-based team of scientists by personal example

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to present complex concepts and technologies clearly to non-technical audiences
