The production mechanic will serve as the subject matter expert for their manufacturing resource. Their daily duties will include the Set-up, changeover, troubleshooting and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment while adhering to safety protocols. They are responsible for all specialized maintenance, repair and reliability of their packaging and filling machinery. In addition, they will support other areas of the business as required / assigned.


. Equipment Set-up, Operability, and Mechanical Fundamentals

  • Perform set-ups / equipment changeovers for packaging and process equipment on their assigned resource including (but not limited to): capping & dicing equipment, cartons, feeders & cleaners, filling machines, labelers and coders, sealers, sorters, and wrappers.

  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical fundamentals including but not limited to: hydraulic drive systems, motors, gearboxes, belts, pulleys and bearings.

  • General troubleshooting of pneumatic and electrical components including but not limited to photo sensors, solenoids, actuators, and cylinders.

  • Solid understanding of hardware and measuring tools, including but not limited to: identification and proper application of metric and standard hardware as well as the use of tape measures and calipers.

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on all assigned production equipment following the PM checklist.

  1. Continuous Improvement
  • Actively participate and support facility and corporate Lean Manufacturing initiatives including but not limited to: Values Stream Mapping, and Kaizen events.

  • Knowledge of theory and application of various LEAN tools including but not limited to: Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why’s, and One Point Lessons.

  • Support Capital projects through instillation and integration of equipment. Review specifications of equipment and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).

  1. Health and Safety
  • Proactively identify and resolve safety concerns.

  • Observe and conform to all corporate EH&S guidelines and procedures.

  • Adhere to established Lockout/Tag out Programs.

  • Actively participate in BBS.

  • Follow all PPE guidelines as per site regulations.

  • Maintain clean work environment on the production floor and within the maintenance shop.

  • Conform to all ergonomic assessment requirements.

  • Follow cGMP and corporate quality SOP’s at all times.

  • Perform all required quality checks as described in our plant SOP’s.

  • Understanding of PPM and defect prevention practices.



  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 3 years’ Experience or Technical School Graduate

  • Have excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to resolve issues in a tactful and diplomatic manner.

  • Possess basic personal leadership skills.

  • May be required to handle containers of hazardous waste.

  • Must be able to work in environment that is oily, dusty and noisy.

  • Required to have and maintain a good attendance record.

  • Able to work overtime and all shifts.

  • Proficient in MS Office.

  • Ability to read and write in the English language.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

  • Must supply own tools.
