Position Summary:

The Vice President of Enterprise Architecture leads the development and execution of enterprise wide system and technical architecture. The incumbent will be instrumental in identifying and analyzing the enterprises' business drivers and aligning a systems' strategy to support them. This includes creating and reviewing the enterprise architecture roadmap, strategy, and business.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Manages enterprise-wide architecture: continuously monitors modes and updates them as necessary to show changes, additions and alterations.

  2. Provides guidance and direction on projects, ensuring overall fit with architecture direction. Completes architectural assessments and unbiased analysis of key decisions within projects including impact on systems, costs, business processes, timelines and other key variables.

  3. Develops a practice to determine, approve and manage preferred technologies. Maintains a list of approved technologies. Guides the organization to standard technologies or create new standards as development needs arise. Completes unbiased analysis of technical options and leads the support and adoption of standards in the organization.

  4. Develops presentations and communication strategies to ensure enterprise architecture strategies are conveyed and support throughout the organization. Builds support and key relationships to allow for cross company buy-in or architecture ideas.

  5. Stays up-to-date with technology trends to ensure reference architecture and strategy stays current. Understands successes and failures in the marketplace to better guide the company's architecture strategy.

  6. Ensures an overall architecture with consistent uses of data and significant reuse of technology and business services throughout the company.

  7. Validates, refines, and expands the model: verifies assumptions, partners with subject matter experts, etc. in order to improve the model and to further define it, adding as necessary new ideas to make the result more flexible and more tightly linked to current and expected requirements.

  8. Leads the review of proposed solution architecture, both serviced based and custom development, for technical compliance.

  9. Drives integration across all aspects of enterprise architecture and ensures an end-to-end enterprise focus.

  10. Manages the Enterprise Architecture team, including hiring, coaching, professional development, training and performance management.


  1. Bachelor's degree in IT/Engineering preferred, Master's degree a plus.

  2. 15 years of IT and business/industry work experience in architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning and operations. Minimum of 10 years progressively responsible leadership in software development including some time in an enterprise architecture function.

  3. Proven success in strategic management, leadership, planning and organizational skills required.

  4. Demonstrated experience in delivering/enabling highly available, scalable and secure enterprise deployments.
