Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Position based in New York City.

  • Advise and counsel clients on all issues related to global marketing and advertising programs in all media and formats including TV, print, digital/social, packaging, promotions, etc.

  • Review product and brand advertising claims; review and provide guidance on test protocols, consumer research, claim substantiation, and other support data.

  • Respond to and manage defense of advertising and regulatory litigation, challenges and inquiries.

  • Provide client education and training on relevant legal issues, develop processes and forms to support business marketing needs and efficiencies.

  • Coordinate and manage outside law firms with respect to litigation, government inquiries and investigations.

  • Advise and consult with all levels of the organization including senior leadership to identify critical legal issues, assess potential legal options, and provide individuals and teams with an analysis and range of possible legal solutions.

  • Exercise independent judgment related to company legal matters.

Qualifications

  • Cosmetic and/or OTC industry experience.

  • JD from a top law school.

  • Licensed in NY.

  • 8 years of marketing, advertising and administrative legal experience at AM Law 200 firm and/or Fortune 1000 company.

  • Global experience.

  • Strong understanding of regulations/FTC and FDA compliance relating to cosmetic, and over-the-counter drug products.

  • Ability to form strong relationships with business leaders and serve as a counterpart to the Marketing, Product Development and R&D teams.

  • Ability to execute in a complex matrixed environment while setting boundaries.
