The Director, Communications, Travel Retail Worldwide, is responsible for creating and evolving a strategic global Travel Retail communications framework and narrative, working across all Estée Lauder Companies brands and collaborating closely with key functional leads, including Social and Digital Marketing, Legal, Shopper Insights, Education, Sales, HR and Regional Communications. Spearhead travel and beauty collaborations and programs that embody the spirit of The Estée Lauder Companies’ brands, creating the right leverage of equities, buzz and cultural immediacy that will drive engagement, entice consumers and grow sales within the global TR channel.


Strategy & Management

  • Create and evolve a Travel Retail strategic communications framework and narrative, working across brands with Social and Digital Marketing, Legal and Regional Communications leads.

  • Develop effective social marketing communication strategies across various regions, markets and channels.

  • Lead the development of strategy and content for Duty Free Shopping and Travel Beautifully.

  • Provide strategic communications counsel to cross-functional teams

  • Direct local Travel Retail PR budgets.


  • Lead both traditional and digital communications, internally and externally for Travel Retail Worldwide.

  • Spearhead the development of tools to enhance, modernize and advance communications in the global TR channel.

  • Create and disseminate Corporate, Executive and Trade Communications, with strong focus on differentiating the channel for travelling consumers.

  • Select, onboard and manage an external agency; together, proactively develop/pitch traditional and digital external press opportunities for the TR channel.

  • Act as strategic advisor to President, Travel Retail Worldwide on trade interviews, reputational opportunities, potential issues, risks and crises.

  • Work with the Travel Retails teams to develop and execute channel related special events and meetings.


  • Ideate travel corridor influencer strategies with key partners to improve perception of travel shopping and link the Earned Media Value to driving sales; support the vetting of potential social influencers through a reputation lens.

  • Assist Brands with forecasts for press products and create transparent tracking of press related materials.


  • 8 years relevant professional experience in the Communications function, of which 5 years will be in-house with matrix-organized multinational corporations

  • Strategic, independent, self-starter and a collaborative, team player

  • Experience in internal and external communications across a multi-language region

  • Deep understanding of media relations and the proven ability to quickly establish a media network

  • Strong presence, personal gravitas and poise in articulating messages to internal and external contacts

  • Culturally sensitive with experience leading and managing global/virtual teams

  • Works effectively in ambiguous situations and on cross-functional projects

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English language; Asian language skills a plus
