Director, North America Programming and Trade Marketing Clinique

The Director of Trade Marketing for Clinique North America is responsible for the development and execution of launch planning and calendarization, omnichannel strategies, and marketing programs for Macy’s and Dillard’s in order to increase Clinique brand presence and market share, and achieve sales and NOP objectives.


Marketing Strategies and Execution at Macy’s and Dillard’s

  • Develop 360 marketing strategies for Macy’s and Dillard’s including launch support, seasonal/ promotional calendar, sampling and customer loyalty programming. Exhibit strong understanding of all drivers of business performance (including quantitative and qualitative data) to consistently optimize strategy and execution

  • Review seasonal marketing calendars with Macy’s and Dillard’s Account Leads to ensure all marketing programming helps achieve sales goals

  • Collaborate with online group to ensure that the effectiveness of retailer programs is maximized across channels and that the omnichannel consumer receives a consistent marketing message

  • Partner with Creative and Sales Ops to ensure all programming support is delivered (collateral, samples, etc) on time

Account Strategic Initiatives and Presentations

  • Partner with Macy’s and Dillard’s Account Leads in development and execution of accounts’ strategic initiatives and retailer-specific marketing programs

  • Prepare for retailer meetings each season, with the goal of generating retailer support and omni- execution of Clinique programs. Assist in the preparation and presentation of retailer market week meetings and coordinate preparations (decks, room readiness, comps) from the appropriate team members

  • Support Macy’s and Dillard’s Account Leads in preparation of taskforce meetings with Clinique and Macy’s / Dillard’s senior leadership team

Field Communication

  • Lead weekly meetings with Macy’s and Dillard’s Account Leads to address retailer-specific needs and understand Field/Consultant feedback on marketing programs

  • Ensure delivery of information to Accounts Leads and Field regarding launch updates and news

Business Analysis and Program Success Measurement

  • Understand ROI of programs to make analytically supported recommendations and decisions

  • Measure marketing program effectiveness via regular monitoring of KPI’s


  • Ability to collaborate and communicate cross-functionally, with internal and external partners

  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment where flexibility is a key component

  • Position requires strong leadership, project management skills, analytical, and presentation skills

  • Strong attention to detail while simultaneously capable of seeing the whole picture

  • Ability to maximize resources (people, budget), operate efficiently and follow-through

  • Ability to make strategic, analytical and fact-based recommendations linked to a clear understanding of marketing of a brand at point-of-sale

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently

  • Excellent written & verbal communication , comfortable presenting to all levels of management and working within a matrix organization



  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA preferred

  • 8 years relevant trade marketing / account management experience

  • Experience in multi-channel retail or consumer products is preferred

  • Must possess a clear understanding of the department store environment; previous experience in working with retail partners preferred

  • Strong Power point & Excel skills
