The Director of Trade

Marketing for Clinique North America is responsible for the development and

execution of programming and marketing strategy for Macy’s in order to increase

Clinique brand presence and market share, and achieve sales and NOP objectives.


  • Lead development andexecution of omni account programming and marketing to increase market share,sales and profit, capitalize on growth opportunities, and drive elevatedconsumer experience

  • Maintainrelationships with retail partners ( Stores & MCOM) in partnership with KeyAccount team to develop businessstrategies and capitalize on growth opportunities and minimize potential riskfactors

  • Partner withAccount VP and Trade Marketing ED to establish and communicate clear goals andobjectives for the account, including sales and shipment plans to supportseasonal objectives ( GWP planning, Holiday, key launch initiatives, account“Growth Levers”)

  • Develop 360communication for all key initiatives to be executed by the field ( Visualmoments, GWP, Key Animation distortions)

  • Evaluate andassess brand performance (ie, category objectives, holiday cadence, etc) andeffectiveness of marketing programs and establish appropriate action plan;communicate results on key initiatives to the Account, NYO and Field

  • Able to conceptualizeand execute a full 360 marketing campaign tailored to retailer needs andprovide clear instructions to the creative team to execute

  • Track and ensureall assets required for marketing campaigns are on-time for marketing programs;route ROP, printed materials and broadcast buys for the account

  • Guide thedevelopment of retailer presentations of the marketing program, with the goalof generating Macy’s support for Clinique’s seasonal marketing and promotionalprograms

  • Continuously lookforward ensuring all key learnings are communicated effectively to impactfuture decision making regarding programs and strategies relevant to drivegrowth in the Macy’s account

  • Manage seasonaladvertising strategies and manage coop budgets for both Stores & MCOM

  • Develop seasonalpromotional calendars with the Account, maintaining all side-by-sides and mediacost sheets

  • Manage coopbudget for stores & MCOM

  • Responsible forAchievement of Shipment Plan/Maximizing order writing

  • Partner with Planning & Lead OE partner to maximize all programmingand event plans with the appropriate support to maximize results


  • Ability to collaborate and communicate cross-functionally, withretail partners, internal partners, Macy’s Key Account team and field

  • Ability to thrivein a fast paced environment where flexibility is a key component

  • Right side/left side of brain thinker, combining creative andbusiness skills

  • Strong attention to detail while simultaneously capable of seeingthe whole picture

  • Ability to maximize resources (people, budget), operateefficiently and follow-through

  • Ability to make strategic, analytical and fact-basedrecommendations linked to a clear understanding of marketing of a brand atpoint-of-sale

  • Position requires strong leadership, project management skills,budget management and negotiation skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently

  • Excellent written & verbal communication , comfortablepresenting to all levels of management and working within a matrixorganization



  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA preferred

  • 8 years relevant programming and planning experience

  • Significant marketing program development experience

  • Experience in multi-channel retail or consumer products ispreferred

  • Must possess a clear understanding of the department storeenvironment: previous experience in working with retail partners preferred

  • Strong Power point & Excel skills
