This role will support two critical corporate functions, R&D / Innovation and Corporate Marketing.

Position summary:

This role will partner with our Brand, Region and Functional partners to provide robust analytical support of the end-to-end marketing planning process, from upstream market insights informing the R&D pipeline to analysis of the effectiveness of in-market promotional spend. This position requires analytical rigor, strong business acumen, superb project management skills and a general inquisitiveness for the beauty category. This individual will also have responsibility for developing dashboards that track the in-market effectiveness of our product launches and the associated advertising and promotional (A&P) support behind them. As these dashboards become routinized, this individual will devote more time to tailoring guidelines to the specific business context of the brands and affiliate partners, monitoring pilot effort performances and performing critical adhoc analyses.

Key roles and responsibilities:

Monthly Trends Reporting

-Work with Brands, Regions and Finance partners to track and understand quarterly shifts in A&P spend, from paid media to in-store promotional material and post-purchase loyalty programs

-Track A&P mix allocations against guidelines and report on gaps

-Monitor performance of key new product innovations

-Analyze market trends of key sub-category / regional combinations

Analytical / Project Management Support for In-Market Pilots

-Help to design new go-to-market approaches for optimizing A&P spend (pilots) to ensure that the right metrics are identified upfront and collected

-Collaborate tightly project leads to develop pragmatic methods of sizing the opportunity from said pilot efforts

-Work with the brand / regional Finance leads to monitor pilot performance and ongoing business results against initial objectives; track variances and summarize key learnings

Campaign P&L (New Product Launch) Tool

-Perform quarterly variance analysis with tool – actuals versus budget (target) for net sales, A&P spend discrepancies and overall campaign contribution / profitability

-Partner with Regional / Affiliate finance leads to develop ‘the narrative behind the variances’; leverage learnings to draft guidelines that can improve future campaign launches

-Partner with the VP of R&D/Innovation, Finance & Strategy, to integrate existing innovation pipeline and development resource allocation analysis into campaign planning and reviews

Perform ad-hoc analysis in support of Marketing and Innovation Process Initiatives

-Act as analytics resource to the Corporate Marketing and Corporate R&D/Innovation Finance teams, performing ad-hoc reviews of market trends (e.g., mascara in S-E Asia)


  • BA with 5 years (min) experience, preferably in Brand Finance or Consulting; R&D / Marketing / Sales experience in FMCG is a plus

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills

  • Self-starter, able to set and meet own deadlines and keep managers appraised as required

  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build relationships in a highly matrixed environment

  • Proven problem solving capabilities, offering alternatives and identifying risks / opportunities

  • Robust project management skills

  • Strong communication (oral and written) and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize large amounts of data into meaningful conclusions

  • Ability to explain objectives, goals and variances to both financial and non-financial leaders

  • Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines and multitask
