IT Program Manager, PMO Portfolio Lead – Global Applications sought with strong delivery experience of global IT applications and related projects/programs. Prior PMO experience to lead IT/business projects and work initiatives while also providing hands on support to PMO lead and assigned Project Managers.

Function as a portfolio leader and IT professional, applying technical expertise and project/portfolio management best practices (including Agile) to help ensure projects within their portfolio meet their goals/objectives. Responsible for overall coordination across portfolios and support teams, including risk management and stability of project oriented work efforts. Receives general direction and guidance, but must be able to work in a highly collaborative environment and also function as an individual contributor.

  • Organize and deliver on all aspects of IT Portfolio planning and management

  • Work with the PMO and Finance to support associated processes and reporting on projects throughout their full lifecycle (i.e. Start Up, Initiation and Execution).

  • Directly engage on all critical initiatives within the respective portfolio and ensure project execution excellence (thru proper Monitoring, Controlling & Risk Management)

  • Lead and/or support various work efforts (assigned by the head of Global Applications PMO) which include efforts to enhance PPM (Project Portfolio Management) process maturity across the PMO and IT (GIS) department as well as efforts that support the ELC and Global Applications strategies.

  • Influence the use of project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet customer expectations.

  • Effectively apply ELC / IT (GIS) PMO methodology and enforce project standards across projects and work efforts.

  • Review project plans and provide input on project charters and associated delivery documents.

  • Direct and monitor work efforts (across projects) on a daily/weekly basis

  • Ensure Project Managers and support resources are accountable for delivery against their project commitments (including financial management, resource management and risk/issue reporting).

  • Acquire, manage and coach project managers as needed.

  • Perform quality reviews and follow quality assurance procedures.

  • Manage project risk exposure and escalate functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately.

  • Report on key project milestones and help manage changes in timeline, budget and/or resources to meet the needs of stakeholders, ensuring the use of a defined change control process.

  • Support associated Project Financial Management and Vendor Management Processes and ensure Project Managers meet all needed obligations.

  • Work with PMs to manage interdependencies across GIS support teams.

  • Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.

  • Select appropriate work procedures and approaches to address technical/functional, process and/or people challenges.


5-8 years delivering complex global IT application projects/programs, working at various levels.

Proven track record within PMO and 5 years, in managing Global IT Project Portfolios (including necessary portfolio management, resource management, risk management, quality management, demand management and associated executive governance)

Must have experience with all core aspects of the Application Lifecycle (SDLC) on several platforms

Preferred experience across retail business processes (including Concept to Market, HR, Payroll, Communications, Legal).

Additional business areas of focus may include: Business Integration / Data Analytics, Supply Chain, Finance, and Corporate Marketing.

Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project and portfolio management techniques, methodologies and tools such as those defined by Project Management Institute (PMI) and included in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).

Mentoring/Coaching of junior Project Managers

Experience of having worked for a similar large scale global organization in a highly matrix, dynamic and managed environment

Experience of managing relationships and deliverables across global IT and business organizations

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Methodical in approach

Advanced user of Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint)

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Project 13 and/or MS Project Online

Knowledge and experience using/administering PPM Tools and provided associated

SharePoint experience (preferred)

Agile Project Management Experience (SCRUM Experience and/or Certification is preferred)

ITIL certifications (preferred)
