Work on North America strategic initiatives that cut across our portfolio of brands and functions.
Lead the day to day regional strategic planning process and develop the strategy document.
Monitor execution of strategic initiatives and impact on performance.
Develop the analytical capabilities in the region to support corporate function, global brands and North America Brand teams in assessing market opportunities.
Develop a deep understanding of the competitive environment including competitor actions.
Own the regional dashboards - Channel, Category, Subcategory, Consumer Coverage AIV score and Competitive Actions. Present dashboards to the Global brands teams once a year and monthly to the North America Leadership Team and develop actions.
Develop strategic perspectives on new market opportunities including assessment of size, risks/benefits of opportunity, etc.
Support New Business Development in their assessment of potential acquisitions, provide the North America perspective.
Work with Corporate Strategy as needed.
Collaborate with International and global brand presidents in setting agenda.
Manage regional program portfolio or PMO.
This role within North America leads the development of the overall regional strategy, supports key regional initiatives to deliver the strategy, provides analytical capabilities to the brands and key accounts in the region and participates in evaluating new business opportunities.
The position will serve as the annual strategy project manager and will oversee the day to day development of the strategy. This will include liaising with corporate strategy, leading the North America team in developing the strategy and identifying the key issues for the region. This position will identify key strategic issues, determine “Where to Play” choices and “How to Win” recommendations. This role helps to identify areas for Consumer Insights to execute market research.
This position will develop analytical capabilities to support the Global Brands and North America teams. This position leads the team to understand US and Canada market and retailer dynamics, competitor actions, category and subcategory trends (skincare, makeup, fragrance and hair care) and maintain our ELC portfolio dashboards. This in depth market assessment will be presented to the global brand teams once a year as input into their strategy and help further their understanding of the North America market. Additionally, this position will update the North America Leadership Team monthly in terms of market performance and ELC’s position.
This position will partner with New Business Development in assessing potential acquisitions from a North America value creation perspective. This includes, validating business plans, assessing strategic fit, laying out organizational needs and identifying potential synergies with existing brands/functions.
The Vice President will lead the strategy development for the priority channels (e.g., Free Standing Stores) and accounts that do not have a dedicated Key Account Management (KAM) structure (e.g., Saks, Bloomingdales, Bon Ton), while also providing guidance and oversight to the Macy’s, Nordstrom and Specialty/Multi KAMs and analytics teams that are part of the KAM organizations.
This position will lead any additional initiatives that cut across brands (e.g., top door focus, pilots) and will ensure the team acts as an ‘internal consultant’ to our North America Leadership Team providing support to different brands and projects depending on the priorities.
In addition to the above, the Vice President will support the North America Group President in setting the agenda for the year (e.g., regional visits, retailer meetings) and coordinating with the other Group Presidents to ensure we are tackling the right issues.
MBA from top business school and/or 3 years of strategy consulting experience.
Minimum of 10 years total work experience.
Well-developed interpersonal skills.
Strong problem solving skills.
Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills required.
Proven project management capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize large amounts of complex data into meaningful conclusions.
Strong presentation and communication skills.
Knowledge of industry practices and a passion for prestige consumer categories is a plus.
Self-starter and ability to juggle multiple priorities at the same time.
