Assistant Manager International GWP, Global Marketing, Clinique

Oversee promotional marketing plans and development (including mixes, packaging, COGS, merchandising, and competitive analysis) for the International Gift-With-Purchase, Global Concern Kit, and Paid Sampling programs. Work in conjunction with the Manager of the North American Gift-With-Purchase on new product development and to ensure both programs are integrated. Meet execution timelines and target cost of goods for all promotional programs.

This individual will report to the Executive Director of Clinique Global Promotional Marketing. The role allows for significant autonomy, as well as access to the Vice President of Marketing and other senior team members. Access to Skincare, Makeup/Fragrance, and Digital Marketing teams, with long term opportunities to advance throughout the Marketing organization.


  • International Gift-With-Purchase program for UK, Asia, EMEA, Latin America, Pacific, Travel Retail (including Clinique For Men GWPs)

  • Global Concern Kit program

  • Global Paid Sampling Program

  • New promotional WIP development


Program Development

  • Develop International Gift-With-Purchase, Concern Kit, and Paid Sampling programs that resonate with Regions, Consultants, and Clients, while maintaining the brand’s Global Strategy and seasonal priorities.

  • Be able to think outside the box and utilize strategic thinking, creativity, and innovation in the planning and building of strong GWP, Concern Kit, and Paid Sampling programs through close collaboration with global partners and cross-functional teams.

  • Lead discussions with Regions to identify trends and shifts and incorporate market and local business priorities with brand and company initiatives.

  • Analyze and make recommendations regarding strategy changes to ensure that appropriate product priorities are developed and strategic category targets are achieved.

  • Partner with GBSC and other cross-functional teams to ensure development timelines and deadlines are met.

  • Ensure Regions receive all written communication and guidelines for forecast submissions along with collateral and assets needed for program implementation through the IMW and email.

  • Manage requirements for Sales and Retailer Meetings.

  • Assist the Global Promotional Marketing team with all necessary paperwork for program execution including Program Fact Sheets, Marketing Program Briefs, Cost of Goods calculations, Design Direction / Turnover, Design Validation Forms, Creative Briefs, Creative Job Starts and IMW program postings.

  • Responsible for global recaps of all programs.


  • Evaluate seasonal artwork needs and actively review collateral artwork in partnership with Creative Operations for any revisions and corrections to ensure proper execution by all markets.

  • Work closely with Global Creative Team:

o Partner with Creative on new fabrics/prints and bag shapes for GWP program.

o Manage gift photography process (as liaison with Creative and Packaging).

o Approve comps for photography.

Cost Analysis

  • Manage cost feasibility process: liaise with Cost Accounting, Packaging, Product Development and other cross-functional team members to ensure costs are in-line with overall cost objectives.

  • Partner with Managers of Global Holiday and North American GWP programs to maximize efficiencies across components for cost saving and capacity.

  • Work closely with Executive Director and cross-functional teams to ensure seasonal and fiscal cost targets are maintained throughout development process and highlight any issues in a timely manner.

Competitive Analysis

  • Track, document and analyze competitive vehicles, communication and event activity.

  • Evaluate current promotional performance among key competitors as a means to develop programs in line with market and consumer trends. Analyze competitive promotional activity through close communication with Regional Marketing teams.

  • Maintain history of seasonal sales results across all retailers globally. Summarize success and improvements needed for continuous seasonal planning

  • Work with Executive Director to prepare and report findings to Senior Management as needed.


  • College/University degree; MBA a plus

  • 4 years marketing experience.

  • Strong creative skills and possess a proactive attitude.

  • Self-motivated and determined with excellent organizational and follow up skills.

  • Must be able to take initiative, anticipate next steps and offer recommendations of possible solutions.

  • Must be highly detail oriented with un-prompted follow-through.

  • Must be a team player that is able to foster relationships with cross-functional team members.

  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge / familiarity with ELC analytic programs such as SAP, Qlikview and Data Warehouse a plus.
