The Associate Design Director will be responsible for designing MAC stores, preparing/delivering renderings and schematic packages to commissioned architects for the development of DD and CD sets. Must collaborate with multiple interdisciplinary teams, interpret renderings/design sketches, be amenable to change, fast tracking and accelerated delivery timelines. Also process high quality standards with excellent project management and follow-through ensuring adherence to project defined guidelines including timetables and budget. Additionally would collaborate, mentor and manage SD designers.


  • In partnership with the Executive Director, manage multiple project scheduling, distribute project assignments and create structured workflows.

  • Produce/review production drawings and provide mark-ups to external consultants and discuss the future line of action where applicable.

  • Create a comprehensive specification book, which outlines current design requirements and insures compliance with current building standards for each division of the department.

  • Responsible for accuracy and completeness of site criteria as dictated by the requirements of each specific location.

  • Send/receive drawings/documents and log them in their respective folders on the server.

  • Coordinate and provide general clarification to any contractor queries.

  • Research and analysis that may include an assemblage of building materials and components.

  • Communicate with vendors, contractors and consultants and coordinate light technical data with suppliers and provides feedback to the department.



  • BFA preferred.

  • Position requires 5 years relevant work experience in a creative environment.

  • Strong leadership and project management skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Proficient in current industry standard computer skills:

 AutoCAD software

 Microsoft Office applications

 Macintosh environments - Apple Systems X

 3D skills a plus

  • Possess a practical background in retail design and fixture development.

  • Must be an organized team player with solid interpersonal skills.
