POSITION SUMMARY:

Drive sales and market share growth of Clinique in North America through retailer-specific launch planning and calendarization, omnichannel strategies, and marketing programs for all North America retailer accounts.

The Executive Director must have a deep understanding of Consultant and field needs as well as the consumer journey as this person will be responsible for identifying needs and gaps at an account level and championing solutions through to execution.

This position serves as the primary point person for the field leaders for all accounts and will be responsible for liaising between the account/Field and the Global Marketing and North America launch teams, accurately and effectively communicating: (1) the needs of the account back to the development teams and (2) the Global and North America launch strategies back to the account and field leaders. This position also oversees Marketing Operations.

In addition, this role is also responsible for the growth and talent development of 2 people for Account Management and 3 people for Marketing Ops.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Planning and Marketing Programming at Retailers

o Develop marketing strategies by account including launch support, seasonal/promotional calendar and customer loyalty programming and cascade to team members.

o Develop mix of tactics that strengthens brand relevance, meets sales goals and is consistent with brand and retailer strategies.

o Deliver excellent execution and partner with supply chain and sales to ensure all programming support is delivered (collateral, samples, etc) on time.

o Drive innovation in programming where necessary and champion brand equity.

o Exhibit strong understanding of all drivers of business performance (including quantitative and qualitative data) to consistently optimize strategy and execution.

o Review seasonal marketing calendars with field sales lead or field programming director to ensure all marketing programming helps achieve sales goals.

  • Launch Planning & Presentations

o Meet with Field Sales lead to plan and calendarize launch support at an account level.

o Prepare for retailer meetings with respect to marketing and promotions, with the goal of generating retailer support and superior execution of Clinique programs in store.

o Assist VP in the presentation of seasonal retailer market week meetings and coordinate preparations (decks, room readiness, comps) from the appropriate team members.

  • Field Communication

o Lead weekly meetings with field by account to understand what is happening at a store level, help to share best practices, and address Consultant, Field and retailer-specific needs.

o Ensure delivery of all launch and promotional programs to Field.

o Ensure delivery of information to field regarding launch updates and news. Understand correct forums and timing for communication.

o Request regular updates from media and new launch planning team to be communicated in weekly NA newsletter to the field.

  • Sampling

o Review and approve national sampling strategy and budget as managed by the Marketing Associate

o Ensure deliver of all sampling programs to Field

o Approve allocations of samples by retailer to maximize A&P effectiveness

o Request and track strategic new sampling development for non-GWP accounts and ensure sufficiency of samples to drive growth in these accounts

  • Merchandising

o Drive Open Sell strategy for North America, ensuring that Sephora, Ulta and Nordstrom Innovation doors are updated with a cadence that maximizes sales from new launches and minimizes returns.

o Represent the Consultant, Beauty Stylist (Nordstrom), Cast Member (Sephora) and Consumer to the Visual Merchandising team by providing an in-depth understanding of how merchandising elements are used at a store level and reviewing and approving all design direction for adherence to marketing and sales strategies.

o Brief creative teams on any special needs for open service including customized gondola photography.

  • Canada and Online

o Provide clear marketing guidelines for the Canada market, with enough detail and in a timeline that will allow for market customization and effective execution. Meet regularly with Canada to ensure effective communication of US Department Store programs.

o Ensure all Nordstrom programs are compatible with Nordstrom in Canada where feasible.

o Collaborate with online group to ensure that the effectiveness of retailer programs is maximized across channels and that the omnichannel consumer receives a consistent marketing message.

o Program and share budget responsibility for online CRM initiatives and programs that drive consumers to store via online.

  • Business Analysis and Program Success Measurement

o Make analytically supported recommendations to influence sales performance.

o Measure marketing program effectiveness via regular monitoring of KPI’s.

o Analyze performance within a context of incomplete or ambiguous information.

o Draw upon both in-store knowledge and customer analytics.

  • Talent Development

o Responsible for the talent development of a team of 5 direct reports.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • The candidate should have 10 years of related experience.

  • College degree required. MBA preferred.

  • Must have ability to think strategically and to conceptualize and implement new ideas.

  • Exhibit strong analytical skills and detail orientation with strong problem solving capabilities.

  • Candidate should be a proactive and inquisitive.

  • Have facility to identify, prioritize and adjust to multiple needs.

  • Requires strong oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal and team building capabilities with internal functional groups as well as with external partners.

  • Exhibit strong analytical skills and detail orientation with strong problem solving capabilities.

  • Candidate should be collaborative and resourceful.

  • Requires an ability to navigate the organization and remove obstacles that get in the way of the team achieving business outcomes.

  • Strong MS Excel and Powerpoint skills.
