Role located in Shanghai, China
The primary focus of this position is to support the Director, APAC, Digital and the VP of Creative Design in the creative development and implementation of all TMall projects.
This person must provide leadership on managing local demands as well as determine brand appropriate creative for the Tmall environment.
Must be able to collaborate seamlessly with complex internal team structures and workflow(global, regional, local, agencies).
Ideal candidate would possess agency as well as brand side experience and working with global and local teams.
Must have experience overseeing production designer on digital asset creation for various formats and platforms
This person must have strong command of Mandarin Chinese and can equally communicate effectively in English.
This position would be trained in NYC and subsequently live in Shanghai for TMall launch.
The senior designer online, is responsible for the look-and-feel of all TMall assets including site design, stories, videos, livestream events, banners and any related supporting creative assets.
Additionally, they will be supporting and driving graphic content and design on all Tmall related social platforms including WeChat and Weibo.
This person must be highly knowledgeable in the cultural understanding of local Chinese behavior but also possesses the ability to grasp through collaboration other behaviors across local markets (e.g. Korea, Japan) as it pertains to visual / experience design for social and commerce platforms especially in the TMall environment.
Work with Int’l Director and oversee Production Designer on the production of digital concepts and execution on TMall.
Is an expert in visual design but love being well-rounded and possess an understanding of UX, digital commerce, digital social / campaign engagements and Chinese user behaviors.
Conceptualize and design assets for TMall Ecommerce, Mobile and Social executions.
Communicate design goals and messages to creative participants, ensuring integration of design requirements into all phases of production.
Design and execute all programs for TMall online banners, emails, and content for WeChat campaigns, Weibo etc...
BA or BFA preferred.
3-4 years of direct design experience.
Must be fluent in Mandarin- speaking and reading.
Exceptional skill-set in graphic/digital design with an understand and ability to grasp over time varying visual sensibilities and nuances of not only China but other countries in Asia in consideration for visual design (layouts, typography, imagery, etc), usage, and platform mechanisms.
Deep understanding and extensive knowledge of TMall and Chinese Ecommerce environment.
Thorough working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and experience in motion graphics a plus.
Is proactive, passionate, and shows fearlessness in tackling development of MAC’s presence on TMall.
Is extremely detail oriented, self-motivated and can articulate clearly and concisely market needs to the Global team.
Extensive knowledge in social media design and ecommerce/mobile consumer behavior in the APAC region.
Deep understanding of local fashion/cultural/technological trends.
Experience managing a production designer from concept to completion.
