The Resident Trainer performs the responsibilities of a M
C Artist where 70% of his/her time is spent at the counter. Approximately 30% of the Resident Trainer’s time is dedicated to conducting core training to help support the business needs and the marriage of art and commerce. This position requires that the Resident Trainer assist in the management of assets, expenses, administrative task and assist Training manager in core trainings.
- Provide Retail Employee Support by:
Working as a M* A* C Artist at base store during events.
Making regular visits to counters and working alongside M* A* C Artists.
Setting an example of professionalism, MAC Experience and makeup artistry.
Answering questions pertaining to MAC Experience, Artistry and product knowledge while at counters.
Identifying training needs with Retail Managers and meeting those needs through one-on-one support.
Communicating with Retail Manager regarding staff performance, ability, and morale.
Participating in Retail and Special Events.
- Enhance the Skill Level of M
C Artists by:
Observing and modifying, if necessary, the make-up art abilities and MAC Experience skill levels.
Evaluating training needs and suggesting methods of addressing these needs at the counter to the Retail Manager and AT & D manager.
Conducting and maintaining records of Skills Certifications of all Retail Employees at the location(s).
Communicating training needs and accomplishments regularly to the AT & D manager.
Managing Product Specialist project to inspire creativity, develop communication and planning skills for successful theme days for strategic business results.
- Participate in Professional Development by:
Attending and participating in various developmental trainings.
Attending monthly staff meetings and participating by presenting independent ideas and concepts, discussing departmental developments and coaching and supporting others.
- Provide Information Regularly to Retail Manager by:
Assisting with the assessment of the effectiveness of at the counter training initiatives (e.g. In-store support, one-on-one consultations).
Identifying and communicating training needs.
Maintaining current and accurate records of training and certification.
Informing him/her of the details of upcoming events and providing him/her with an evaluation of the success of events.
- Ensure Educational Objectives of Artist Training are met by:
Conducting In-Store Support to develop the makeup artistry, product knowledge and MAC experience of M∙A∙C Artists and ensuring in-store training and support and those training priorities are identified and achieved.
Organizing a monthly schedule that provides for the efficient facilitation of the delivery of core training modules, meetings, one-on-one consultations with M* A* C Artists, etc. which reflect consistent, regular rotation among locations.
Identify and communicating training needs of M∙A∙C Artists to RM, Trainer and Retail Operations.
Attending and participating in various developmental trainings (e.g. Train the Trainer, Trainer Academy, regional meetings).
6. Financial Accountabilities
Ensure the timely submission and accuracy of credit card statements, expense reports and company-owned asset forms.
Assist in reviewing and tracking expenditures in accordance with departmental/regional budgets
Help ensure training premises are maintained, clean, functional and properly equipped.
- Adhering to and providing the example for M
C policies regarding customer service expectations, dress code and M
C’s professional standards.
A minimum grade 12 education with specialist training in make-up.
Diploma in Makeup Artistry or Cosmetic Retail Experience (min 2 years).
- Proven exceptional ability in make-up application, organizational skills, customer service, public speaking and instructional training. Must be versatile.
One year previous experience as a M* A* C Artist .
Skill Certification, retail skill certified.
Product Specialist Program an advantage.
- Training and coaching new and existing employees and customers.
- Proven ability to provide guidance, instruction and product knowledge and training.
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative, challenging informative and fun ways to deliver training and educational information.
