The Estee Lauder Companies Associate Scientist in Blaine, Minnesota
This is an Associate Scientist position in the Blaine Research and Development Technical Services Value Creation Lab. This position will work primarily on product reformulation initiatives and identifying and qualifying alternate sources of raw materials as well as risk mitigation. This position will perform an integral part in cost savings initiatives and prevention of negative business impact due to supply issues, regulatory changes, safety issues, field issues, brand initiatives, etc.
The candidate must be a competent individual contributor who can execute assigned work as well as plan work to support projects assigned with punctual delivery of quality content & shared learnings. Collaborate with project teams to ensure the successful completion and timeliness of product deadlines. Document & summarize data for review and interpretation. Share results with supervisor & understand the impact of their results vs the project objectives. Builds experience & confidence in making suggestions for next steps.
Perform chemical laboratory bench work with accuracy and thoroughness. Make batches and follow stability protocols, review concerns with management and seek out resolutions when needed. Builds category understanding of products, packages/devices. Uses their technical knowledge to generate & analyze data. Recognizes & flags unexpected learnings. Make suggestions on how to achieve project objectives.
Prepare documentation for batch card release including compliance documentation as required.
Perform function with high attention to detail and excellence in execution
Develop knowledge & acceptance of company culture, resources, processes etc. Competent in standard operating procedures & methodologies. Develop an understanding of & able to use available resources needed to get the job done. Integrate into organization & becomes a valuable contributor.
Investigate product quality issues and complete deviations and corrective actions as necessary.
Some domestic travel to off-site facilities for manufacturing support may be required.

Minimum Education level:
Bachelor's Degree - Chemistry, biochemistry, or related technical discipline
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Basic working knowledge of chemical and laboratory practices mandatory. Basic technical writing and documentation skills. Must be able to problem solve and have good decision making skills. Ability to analyze and operate laboratory equipment and analytical tools. Thorough knowledge of common computer applications such as MS Word, Excel. Comply with all GMPc, GLP, safety, cleanliness, and security standards.
