Position Summary:

Aveda, America’s premier creator and marketer of plant-based haircare, skincare, make-up, PureFume™ and lifestyle products seeks a Daycare Aide to be Responsible for the general supervision and management of a group of children; work in cooperation with and under the supervision of the teacher for that group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Daycare Manager and Lead Teacher in long range planning of the curriculum and implementing the program’s philosophy and goals.

  • Greet the children when they arrive. Provide nurturing to allow the children to become comfortable in their room each day upon arrival. Assist with maintaining daily notes to let the parents know about each child’s day.

  • Assist in preparing the information to be shared at conference time, as well as all documents pertaining to the children.

  • Attend and participate in staff meetings in order to ensure an efficient and functional Child Care Center, while working with the team to develop ideas and suggestions.

  • Share housekeeping responsibilities to maintain clean, orderly, and workable rooms.

  • Responsible for attaining in-service training, including first aid, CPR, professional conferences, lectures and other educational events to meet requirements set by the state.

  • Maintain a professional attitude at all times.

  • Show initiative in the improvement of early childhood education within Aveda’s daycare program and curriculum.

  • Supervise and interact with the children in all activities.

  • Maintain appropriate communication with the staff, children, and families at all times. Maintain an open, warm, and professional relationship with all families. Available for parent/teacher conferences as needed.

  • Provide feedback to parents regarding classroom practices and current recommended methods for childcare and early childhood development

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent, 12 post-secondary credits that are accepted toward assistant teacher qualification.

Experience:

Varying clock hours in a licensed day care facility required

Other:

See Rule 9503 in the licensing guideline manual for Child Care Centers for specific criteria regarding education and experience.

Must be able to bend, sit, squat, kneel, stand, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
