Director Technical Education
As a member of the education leadership team, this position is responsible for the management and execution of the technical education programs for Aveda in North America.

Each Aveda employee will actively participate in the Behavior Based Safety (BBS) program and is required to follow all safety practices and procedures.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Guide and direct the NA education team under the direction of the VP of NA Education and in collaboration with training and functional leadership to strategically plan Aveda education programs to increase market share
Manage the technical education programs, develop Hair Color and Skin Spa Specialists to achieve highest standards of technical excellence
Must have experience managing a large team with demonstrated success of retention and development of the education team.
Provide creative solutions to problems to streamline processes, increase productivity and augment performance.
Ability to coach others on their presentation skills, management skills, verbal and written communication to help lead the technical team to excellence
Increase awareness and bring to the organization new and innovative training ideas and mythology to engage and inspire the modern learner
Research competitive education offerings as we strive to provide industry leading education
Oversee execution of new and current education programs for North America including development of educator and course evaluations, pricing and fees for events and educators ensuring that all changes to curriculum and new course and collection materials are distributed to the appropriate channels
Oversee communication regarding technical education initiatives for the Aveda network including distributor partners and institutes
Support development of artistic shows as directed by senior leadership
Provide regular reports regarding the status of education programs to senior leadership including reporting on ROI of Education (number of salons/stylists touched, frequency, sales results, etc.)
Responsible for administration and execution of execute the Ambassador program
Bring to the organization new and innovative classroom and development processes and technology to provide a world-class training experience.
Demonstrate initiative to drive change and improve existing programs.
Develop strategies in collaboration with stakeholders, conduct needs analysis and prioritize current and future learning that engages the modern learner.
Guide and integrate training delivery with overall company objectives, understanding annual goals and incorporating adult learning principles into sales and technical training.
Foster message consistency by understanding, demonstrating and promoting the principles of Aveda’s mission and values.
Apply and maintain the knowledge base of current training programs, research learning theory, methods, and techniques staying on the cutting edge of the beauty and training Industry.
Travel in the field to ensure consistency of program implementations, understanding training needs attend meetings, and drive adult learning principles
Recruit, hire, onboard and train new technical managers
Provide leadership to direct reports and ensure information and coaching is cascaded to the entire team.
Ability to learn, train, and coach technical, soft skills and leadership training content
Manage the budgetary requirements of the technical education team.
Partner with the Global Education, Marketing, Research and Development, Instructional Design and Digital teams to assist in the effective execution of training initiatives for all education channels
Minimum 8 years’ experience in Salon, Distributor and/or Manufacturing education
Strong leadership skills including strategic planning and an entrepreneurial business approach
An entrepreneurial spirit including the ability to make decisions as if the business were one’s own
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated understanding of adult learning theory
Ability to manage highly creative teams
Computer proficiency in MAC and PC operations
Ability to work a flexible schedule as business dictates including evenings and weekends as needed
Ability to travel, lift up to 30 pounds occasionally and to transport own luggage while traveling
Must possess a valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
