This position plays a critical role in both advising the Aveda and Bumble and Bumble brand leaderships as well as identifying, prioritizing and delivering technology projects that support the Brands’ near term and long-term growth opportunities. The Brand Technology Leader will contribute to the Brands strategies via technology subject matter expertise and be accountable for delivering solutions that drive competitive advantage and growth. In addition, this person will act as a matrix manager to domain-related solution delivery team leaders who are staffed globally. The leader plays an important role in contributing to talent planning and supports the global IT talent process.

This is a true business technology leadership role requiring a point of view and the ability to make proactive recommendations and drive results. This position will provide subject matter expertise, management and oversight of all technology solutions for the brand and will be accountable for all brand technology investments, as well as managing the Brand technology portfolio including innovation initiatives.

The Brand Technology Leader position is one of the most senior roles in the IT organization. Hence, the leader plays a very important role ensuring that the brand strategies and technology needs are well understood and acted upon across the IT organization. The position requires strong communication, lateral influencing skills and strong business acumen.

This position is based in Blaine, Minnesota and reports into the SVP Global Brand Technologies with a matrix relationship to the Brand Presidents of Aveda and Bumble and Bumble.

  • Responsible for all brand technology plans and investments and sets the technology strategy for the brand in collaboration with the Brand Presidents.

  • Accountable for all technology services that are delivered to the Blaine and Bumble sites and will ensure that the sites have adequate technology, staffing and skills to empower the brands operations.

  • Mobilizes teams (Pods) who solution and deliver enabling technologies for the brands and is accountable for the technology teams that delivers innovative, strategic business solutions to the Brands. These solutions must be consistent with both the corporate AND brand strategic objectives and aligned with the IT strategy and architecture. Drives an Agile mindset and delivery culture.

  • Remains well connected with other brands, regions and technology leaders and is continuously informing the brand leadership of new opportunities to leverage technology from across ELC and to bring innovative solutions to the Brands.

  • Responsible for enabling brand specific marketing and consumer insights through technology and driving this capability across the brand teams based at corporate and throughout the brand regional teams. Ensure the strategic agenda is serviced by strong data and analytic services including data science, analytics and ongoing support.

  • Works effectively across the IT organization to ensure brand strategies and enabling technology needs are well understood and incorporated in our IT strategy.

  • Drives an Agile mindset and delivery culture.

  • Responsible for the brands IT budget and ensuring there is there is clear visibility to IT value delivered commensurate to technology invested.

  • Co-manages a global IT team of employees who reside in New York, Hong Kong, United Kingdom and an extended team of 45 in India. Co-develops staff and manages the future state and IT teams that are necessary to support and strategies globally, regionally and locally.

  • Accountable for all IT solutions delivery overseeing business analysts, solution architects and project managers to implement technology solutions on time and budget and achieve intended business outcomes.

  • Excellent business technology leadership skills and demonstrated experience with delivering business outcomes enabled by technology.

  • Act as a member of the Brands leadership team – demonstrating outstanding communication, resiliency, interpersonal skills, ability to influence and provide technology thought leadership to Brand leadership and act as a trusted advisor.

  • Must demonstrate a high sense of urgency to influence changes and drive outcomes from conception to delivery.

  • Work effectively in a highly matrixed and complex organization. Demonstrates collaborative relationship building skills with various internal and external stakeholders, strong lateral influencing ability.

  • Demonstrates ability to work and lead through ambiguity and develop fresh ideas to solution challenges while focusing on results and outcomes.

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in direct to consumer technologies such as consumer experience, digital and all aspects of enabling amazing retail/salon experiences through technology.

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in consumer relationship management technologies to enable outstanding client relationships and first-class service delivery. Strong understanding of Direct to Consumer technologies is critical.

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in marketing technologies such as campaign planning, effectiveness, and consumer insights to enable an exceptional customer luxury experience.

  • Expertise in technology design/architecture and implementation.

  • Hands on experience and demonstrated success in leading web, mobile and social solutions delivery.

  • Demonstrated thought leadership and experience in data analytics, especially consumer data analytics. Drive outstanding insights and innovative game-changing opportunities through data science and analytics.

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in delivering ecommerce and digital experiences through modern technology platforms.

  • Deep experiences leading Agile delivery and advocacy.

  • Competent in new technology evaluation, ability to support technical change management and provide thought leadership skills in integration technologies, tools and services.

Business Skills

  • Ability to ensure that all technology choices are in context to enabling the brand strategy and empowering the brand.

  • Broad global experience and exposure to markets and cultures throughout the world.

  • Using a global perspective, devises plans to enable the Brand’s global growth.

  • Experience developing and implementing consumer facing operation (Salons, Free Standing Stores, Department Stores) and technology strategies and integrating seamless online and offline retail experiences.

  • Excellent financial acumen and demonstrated ability to develop impactful business cases.

  • Experience with driving innovation to enable the brand strategies and bring differentiation and competitive advantage through new technologies and social media.

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in Marketing Tech domain, including A&P effectiveness, earned media value analytics and creative marketing processes and consumer marketing.

  • Deep understanding of merchandising strategies, including assortment and promotional strategies.

  • Ability to enable and enhance the luxury consumer journey – especially in the hair category.

  • Solid problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities.
