Principle Objective

Key financial partner to the brand management team responsible for leading the brand strategic planning, budgeting, and monthly estimate processes. Ensure P&L accuracy from gross shipments, cost of goods, and operating expenses to NOP. Ensure strategic allocation of resources, including operating expenses, headcount, capital and inventory. Actively participate in monthly consensus meeting, key account planning sessions and product/innovation portfolio review. Manage gross margin performance, category mix and profitability, retailer and channel performance and other key metrics.

Ability to lead and manage a team, collaborate with sales, education, marketing, retailers, demand planning and supply chain is critical. Ability to work in a matrix organization – brand and key account management, and to partner with Global and Corporate stakeholders.

This strategic financial planning and analysis team will ensure strategy is implemented and will be supported by a team of functional experts in the areas of selling, demonstration management, capital processing, and regional strategy/analytics.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall NA region (US/PR and Canada) brand P&L ensuring strategic allocation of resources.

  • Ownership of the monthly business review meetings leading up to and including the brand SI&OP meeting and NA regional Integrated Business Planning review.

  • Preparation of the annual budget and latest estimates.

  • Revenue Alignment:

  • Working with account and sales planning and key account leads, align on seasonal retail sales plans by channel/retailer and product category/sub-categories

  • Collaborate with demand planning to validate sales assumptions and prepare demand planning and financial forecast reconciliations – saleable and promotional.

  • Review, document and monitor new product launch assumptions including cannibalization/halo assumptions, and ensure launch activity will be NOP-accretive and/or a strategic imperative.

  • Work with brand management to reduce returns – both returns to vendor and consumer returns, and support sku rationalization efforts to eliminate underperforming products, etc.

  • Responsible for Gross Margin management, cost of goods analysis and recommendations for continued improvement including strategies around newness, category mix, returns impacts, pricing, mix of sets and gifts, etc.

  • Partner across brand teams to identify Risks and Opportunities.

  • Liaise with independent distributors to ensure mutual needs are met.

  • Monitor demo productivity and work with field to deliver improvements.

  • Oversee month end close including accrual adequacy, balance sheet reviews, and cost center/account remediation.

  • Matrix management with Accounts Receivable team, including decisions on collection challenges on a case-by-case basis, and programs offered to the salon network.

  • Evaluate category, franchise and launch plans, ensuring the brand maximizes opportunities to invest against high growth opportunities.

  • Monitor account and door level contribution, highlighting areas for improvement. Ensure the online channels are funded appropriately while balancing investment in brick & mortar.

  • Provide analysis of saleable and promotional inventory levels at trade and in warehouse to reduce inventory and excess levels while maintaining high customer service levels.

  • Responsible for the NA brand capital budget and investment analyses, in addition to ROI metrics.

  • Provide strategic analysis to the brand management team for near term and long range scenario planning, including new business analysis, new product launches, promotional return on investment, etc.

  • Participate in any regional or corporate initiatives such as Corporate Performance Management (“CPM”), marketing planning pilot, promotional inventory efforts, etc.

  • Support change management and process enhancement initiatives, eliminating non-value-added investments and efforts.



  • Undergraduate degree in finance/accounting.

  • MBA from top business school and/or 3 years of strategy consulting experience a plus.


  • 12 plus years of relevant work experience in finance, strategy, new business development.


  • Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills required.

  • Requires strong problem solving, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.

  • Keen ability to collaborate and communicate cross functionally with sales, marketing, demand planning and supply chain.

  • Position requires strong leadership skills and previous experience in managing a team.

  • Ability to drive consensus among functions.

  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills necessary.

  • Knowledge of industry practices and a passion for prestige consumer categories.

  • Strong interest and understanding of external issues affecting the business – economic environment, retail environment, competition, etc.
