The Estee Lauder Companies Senior Scientist/Engineer in Blaine, Minnesota
role will support the Company in maintaining a leadership position in Clean
Beauty and Green Chemistry by looking for ingredient transformation and
secondary sources for ingredients.
role will focus on assisting with locating and testing new innovative
ingredients and technology to be used in base formulations and enabling the
approval of new raw materials
Engagein specialized research within an area of technical expertise or a specializedfunction align technical contributions that promote and maintain the Company'sstatus as the leader in the field of Green Chemistry and botanical/plant-basedingredients
Leverageopen innovation principles to find alternatives to ingredients in formulations
Design,conduct and document research based on topics of special interest to R&Dmanagement
Interactwith senior R&D management to troubleshoot, explain and demonstratefindings
Researchnew directions and ideas through examination of scientific literature andinteraction with other scientists and members of the professional community
Partnerwith existing suppliers of raw materials
Maintainownership of ingredient initiatives and collaborate with other groups inR&D
Trackand own relationship with raw material management team to help qualify new rawmaterials
Completespecial projects as assigned by senior management
Minimum Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in Science
Minimum Years of Experience: 5
Additional Job Specifications:
Indepth knowledge of cosmetic formulations and raw materials within the cosmetic/beauty/healthindustry.
Knowledgeof botanicals or green chemistry principles
Knowledgeregarding supply chain/manufacturing
Knowledgeof open innovation
Priorexperience in Supplier/Relationship Management
Strong customer service skills withan emphasis on the ability to develop positive internal and externalprofessional relationships.
Exceptional project managementskills must include time management and the ability to organize andprioritize all tasks and projects assigned.
Proven ability to work with minimalsupervision.
Maintains full understanding ofbusiness processes.
Excellent communication andmulti-tasking skills.
Knowledge of Windows, includingExcel, Outlook and Word programs, & database systems
Expertise in industry bestpractices.
