Vice President, Global Product Marketing, Aveda
Aveda, America’s premier creator and marketer of plant-based haircare, skincare, make-up, PureFume™ and lifestyle products seeks a Vice President, Global Product Marketing to lead the development and implementation of Aveda’s global product marketing strategy for the complete product lifecycle including product conception, product positioning, product architecture, product pricing and sku management. The VP will collaborate with the Vice President of Product Development on the new product innovation strategy, calendar and pipeline based on a foundation of Artist and consumer insights to create new products and services that build the equity of Aveda and strengthen the brand’s competitive positioning in the global marketplace. This position leads high level collaboration with all key functions and regions involved in the New Product Launch Process.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
PRODUCT STRATEGY AND CATEGORY MANAGEMENT
Lead the development and implementation of Aveda’s global product marketing strategy for the complete product lifecycle including product conception, product positioning, product architecture, product pricing and sku management.
Lead the development of a three year product marketing strategy that supports the brand strategy and includes the innovation pipeline, innovation sufficiency and innovation calendars with new products and services based on Artist and consumer research, insights and analyses.
Collaborate with the Vice President of Product Development on the new product innovation calendar and pipeline to create new products and services that build the equity of Aveda and strengthen the brand’s competitive positioning in the global marketplace.
Collaborate with SVP Consumer Marketing to inform go to market strategies for new products and campaigns to build base business of existing products.
Develop annual global product and service marketing strategies in collaboration with Product Development and Regional Marketing.
Develop global annual business plan to gain market share and increase profitability.
Drive category optimization through reformulations, repackaging, line extensions and line edits.
Lead development and continuous improvement of cost of goods management strategy including annual value analysis efforts to identify cost savings opportunities.
Lead annual global pricing strategy and provide markets with a rolling three-year pricing architecture and price increase cadence.
Lead SKU management strategy and execution process to ensure a one in one out approach and deliver annual targets.
RESEARCH & INSIGHTS
Lead the development of global category reviews and identify needs for new products and services based on Artist and consumer insights.
Direct and analyze market research to determine trends and opportunities in markets, analyze competition and product performance to improve market share globally.
NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH (NPL) MANAGEMENT
Lead high level collaboration for all marketing aspects of the New Product Launch process with all key functions and regions.
Lead all marketing aspects of the New Product Launch process including all approval meetings for innovation calendars and new products with Sr. Management and Product Package and Design (PPD) meetings with the cross-functional development team.
- Lead annual global budget development process for Product Marketing. Track and adjust budget priorities as needed throughout the year to meet brand NOP targets.
TEAM LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT
- Provide leadership, motivation and ongoing coaching for the marketing professionals on your team to cultivate a successful and effective product marketing team.
Bachelor’s degree in Business; MBA preferred
15 years marketing experience in CPG, beauty, or salon/spa industry.
Proven experience bringing highly differentiated new products to market
Outstanding strategic, problem solving and thought leadership skills
Excellent financial, quantitative and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to lead projects requiring synthesis of data into actionable insights
Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate a team with a highly collaborative leadership style
Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams and in high-level facilitation
Excellent communication, presentation, cross functional collaboration and relationship building skills are critical
