The Travel Retail business is seeking an experienced Store Designer/ Store Design Manager. He/she has to have strong leadership skills in communication, partnership & ownership into delivering design work together with the Global travel retail design offices in our NY offices & bridging the communication to retailers in the region. He/she has to have strong interest in expanding on fixture designs, identifying alternative brand materials & design proportion as a core area of expertise/design interest.

The Position

The Store Designer/ Store Design Manager is to lead the design, development & application of regional counter design for the Brand(s). The key focus is on ensuring the brand design language is applied consistently across the Regional Travel Retail sites/locations.

The Role & Responsibilities

He/she is to ensure all projects are completely assessed, reviewed & designed to the brand requirements & aligned with key stakeholders in the business.

He/she has to establish site requirements, review brand established designs & share potential solutions to be elevated; to answer on brand uniqueness with regional shopper differences; or overcome site challenges; or material creative choices & provide innovative design input. The timely delivery of these solutions is essential. The inclusion of enhancements in digital options, technology in the design work is a significant part of the future of retail work, these has to be seamlessly & ergonomically included within sites.

The Store Designer/ Store Design Manager has to ensure manage project communication across a wide team of stakeholders; regional shop-fitters, project managers, corporate store designers, brand visual merchandising teams, indirect procurement, material suppliers, occasionally retailers. The key stakeholders include; NY brand teams & the brand regional director.

He/she has to ensure the use of quality technical build drawings for all projects he/she is to ensure a high level of accuracy that allows for effective delivery of design & communication. He/she has to work with the NY brand teams to ensure the Brand has properly reviewed, aligned & clarified the design input. He/she will be guided by the PM timeline/milestones for renewals and manage project status and creative service requests.

On occasions reviewing/establishing/recommendations/adhering to retailer requirements to these sites will be required. He/she also has to prepare store design materials/briefing kits to educate internal and external partners when needed, to ensure collaborators have the necessary information to carry out the implementation of stores.

Regional travel is required at approximately 30 40%.

Qualifications

The Requirements

  • A BA/MA graduate in Architecture/Interior Design/Industrial Design/ Diploma graduates with relevant experience.

  • Minimum experience of 68 years in Interior/Retail Architecture environments in brands/agency.

  • A strong understanding/interest in the retail industry of Fashion/Cosmetics /Fragrances & tobacco/wines/spirits.

  • Highly proficient in Computer skills, AutoCad, Vectorworks, Sketchup, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Suite of softwares would be essential.

  • An ability to communicate, partner & team partner to design development.

  • Experience working in global organisations, ability to communicate & multi-task with different departments to execute the completion of projects.

  • Good command of both written & spoken English and Mandarin is necessary.
