We are currently seeking an Assistant Manager, Content Strategy to join our exceptional team in Culver City, CA.

About the Job

As part of Smashbox’ efforts to enhance content production, brand storytelling, and create innovative campaigns in a rapidly changing and dynamic marketplace, we seek a member of the Consumer Engagement team that works to support the strategy, content and activation of marketing programs at global scale, with a focus on social and video.

The ideal consumer experience is one that seamlessly transitions across channels, with content designed and optimized for each channel while maintaining a holistic and cohesive story. The primary role of the Assistant Manager, Content Strategy is to aid in the Go to Market strategy development and execution by managing the content strategy. In partnership with cross-functional teams, the Assistant Manager outlines content needs and works with Creative to ensure the production of compelling assets that will live across all owned global channels and lead to the success of the program. This role will focus on social storytelling and video content as key campaign drivers and participate in the development of campaign concept, strategy, scope, creation, delivery and activation.

The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work productively across departments, as well as a proactive and problem-solving mentality. This individual should have a passion for great storytelling to bring our brand’s messaging to life in a unique and authentic way.

About Your Responsibilities

Content creation & content calendar

  • Support Director, Global Video & Content Strategy with the strategic creative marketing direction of global content initiatives across platforms to drive consumer engagement

  • Manage content mapping & full-funnel content strategies across Paid, Earned and Owned to drive measurable business results

  • Content Calendar: Work with cross-functional partners and Manager, Social Media Strategy, on creating and cascading a content calendar (supported by Associate)

  • Assist in translating brand voice and have knowledge of how to leverage asset copy across channels, then partner with copywriters to ensure optimized channel-specific content contained in a campaign copy dossier for easy tracking and approvals

  • Support Director, Content Strategy, to lead conceptual development & ideation process for new product launches, re-promotes, and brand initiatives

  • Leverage social and digital analytics, CRM data and consumer insights to generate fresh ideas

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners and Creative to evolve and communicate an understanding of what messages work with different consumer segments and why via case studies, post launch content analysis and social reporting tools

Go to market creation & release

  • Support the Director of Consumer Engagement in the creative briefing process and creative concept review, provide input to plan compelling campaigns that consider brand goals and strategy while ensuring consumer engagement and driving busines

  • Serve as key liaison between Consumer Engagement & Creative Team from briefing phase through program launch in our social channels

  • Assist in establishing key performance metrics and consistently optimize content/campaigns to drive measurable business results

  • Working closely with Creative & Creative Ops teams, ensure content strategy manifests itself seamlessly within our creative execution in order to ensure alignment across channels

  • Manage Social and Video Creative Asset Checklist for all programs (5 Star, 3 Star, Evergreen/Repromote)

  • Communicate campaign content mapping, content messaging strategy, as well as social & video plans and deliverables in toolkits

Video & Social

Areas of focus will include organic social content with a focus on IGS, YouTube-first video content (brand & influencer), get the look videos, branded content, digital media campaigns, and product focused content with a heavy focus on social media organic and paid content.

  • Content

  • Work closely with the social team to ensure launch strategies & rollout plans in social are cohesive and align with our brand voice, strategy and program-specific goals

  • Brief Video, Social & Content needs to creative with Manager, Social Media

  • Partner with Creative Ops to ensure to ensure social & video elements are prioritized, created and presented cohesively in a timely manner

  • Prioritize video & social requests based on budget and brand goals

  • Manage all ad hoc video requests and work with Production and Creative to offer content and/or solutions, as well as modifications needed to maintain local relevance or market requirements

  • Platforms

  • YouTube: ownership of content & channel strategy & execution - develop and implement brand YouTube & IGTV strategy inclusive of content strategy, calendar, briefings, and channel management (with support from social)

  • Support Manager, Community on Instagram Story Strategy & manage IGS production

Qualifications

About You

  • 4 years of experience

  • Creative/Social renaissance (wo)man with deep understanding of digital landscape, particularly social platforms (existing and emerging); adept at thinking strategically and creatively

  • Voracious consumer of digital/social content, and early adopter of trends with a passion for innovation - beauty, social & video-obsessed

  • Excellent team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and can build, foster and nurture relationships with cross-functional teams

  • Highly-organized, detail-oriented and results-oriented

  • Strong ability to proactively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated experience executing impactful, engaging creative and strategic brand campaigns

  • Excellent communication (oral & written), presentation and interpersonal skills; capable of interacting with Senior Leadership

  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Keynote, Excel and Google Docs; knowledge of adobe suite preferred

  • OK to work occasional nights and weekends as necessary for shoots

  • BA or BS degree from an accredited college/university
