Position Summary

Reporting to the APAC Legal Director and working closely with the legal team at the company’s headquarters in New York and business colleagues throughout the APAC region, the individual will be responsible for a broad range of legal matters in the APAC region.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide a broad range of legal advice and to review, prepare and negotiate agreements of various types and on a broad range of subjects for our Asia Pacific business, including but not limited to the following areas: real estate and lease, media / advertising, employment, sales and purchase

  • Identify and review newly amended or adopted laws of relevance and significance to the company and its business (e.g. privacy ordinance, trademark protection, anti-competition), and to formulate appropriate actions accordingly

  • Accurately analyze legal risks and, working with business colleagues, to propose ways to minimize risk while achieving business goals

  • Liaise with external lawyers to seek further advice on specific matters when required.

  • Coordinate with in-house lawyers at New York headquarters

Qualifications

Skills & Requirements

  • Degree in Law

  • Qualified lawyer

  • At least 3 years’ post-qualification experience, either as an in-house counsel (preferably with a multinational corporation) or as an associate working with a reputable law firm

  • Strong business acumen

  • Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with company personnel at all levels

  • Strong research, drafting and related legal and organizational skills in both English and Chinese

  • High proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese
