The primary purpose of the job is to manage the On-Line Enforcement Program for the APAC Region by monitoring the internet for counterfeiting/grey market activities throughout the region by conducting regular monitoring and removals of websites selling counterfeit products of ELC brands. This position also has the vital function of conducting preliminary examinations of suspected counterfeit products of ELC brands and to manage this important process working closely with vendors and regional affiliate offices for the Regional Security Team. Additionally this position requires close collaboration with the corporate legal department for the regular review of legal documents such as power of attorney, product verifications, price lists of products, trademark certificates etc. to ensure their accuracy prior to issuance to vendors and law enforcement in support of all counterfeit investigations in the APAC Region.
It requires the accountability of full coordination & providing regular updates to other stakeholders to include the supervisor (35% in Independence of Action and Accountability).
It requires leadership & management skills to manage the relevant programs to ensure that the goals & objectives are met in alignment with the business goals and strategies (30% in Leadership).
The position requires problem solving on a regular basis by developing solutions to include creating ideas and measures to prevent similar problems occurring (20% in Problem Solving) as well as decision making on a regular basis based on knowledge/experience that would have an adverse impact on the global brand protection program if an incorrect conclusion/decision was made (15% in Decision Making).
Roles & Responsibilities
Primary responsibility of managing the on-line enforcement program for the APAC Region by monitoring the internet for counterfeiting/grey market activities throughout the region and to remove websites selling counterfeit products of ELC brands by working closely with the relevant brands of the regional affiliates and the corporate legal department to accomplish the objectives of this very important program of ELC’s global brand protection strategy.
Develop a collaborative relationship and be aligned with the relevant brands of the regional affiliates, vendors (investigation firms) and corporate legal to achieve the desired results of the regional on-line enforcement program.
Encourage the relevant brands and on-line teams of the regional affiliates to be proactive with monitoring the websites in their local markets for counterfeiting activities and to report complaints of counterfeiting activities from consumers to the Regional Security Team for further investigation/action.
Work in partnership with the Security Manager, on-line team and the relevant brands of the China Affiliate and Taobao (Alibaba) to protect the T-Mall business of ELC in China by having an effective on-line enforcement program.
Conduct preliminary examinations of suspected counterfeit products of ELC brands for the Regional Security Team in APAC.
Assist with preparing counterfeit identification training PowerPoint presentations and to assist with conducting counterfeit identification training to law enforcement agencies in the APAC Region.
Close collaboration with the corporate legal department for the review of all legal documents such as power of attorneys, verifications, price lists, trademark certificates, examiners’ appointment letters etc.to ensure their accuracy prior to issuance to vendors and law enforcement in support of all counterfeit investigations in the APAC Region.
Assist with screening routine enquiries, information and sighting reports from law enforcement, investigation and law firms as well as regional affiliates by evaluating, gathering and reviewing relevant data for further investigation/action.
When required, provide assistance with administrative tasks such as entering counterfeit seizure statistics into the Global Security database system, organizing and maintaining product samples and witnessing product destructions.
4 years of brand protection
Fluent English & Chinese Cantonese (oral & written)/working proficiency in Chinese Mandarin
Able to travel for business purposes on a limited basis.
Able to work flexibly to include extended hours on occasions when required.
Well-developed interpersonal skills – able to communicate and motivate effectively via written and oral media.
Able to create PowerPoint presentations and conduct counterfeit product identification training to regional law enforcement agencies.
Able to work within tight deadlines.
Knowledge of the luxury cosmetic industry required.
Knowledge of regional IP laws and counterfeit investigations required.
