The VP / GM is responsible across every area of the business for the Jo Malone London brand in its home market.

Delivering all sales and profit targets, whilst building and protecting the brand equity and image through execution. The VP / GM is responsible for the teams, the distribution, the strategic planning, the operations, CSR and the inventory management of the brand increasing Market Share in the region.

The VP / GM JML also sits on the ELC Executive Leadership team for UK-ROI and is expected to share insight, learnings and expertise across the wider corporation.

Principal Responsibilities

Achieve Financial Targets While Building and Protecting Brand Equity:

  • Responsible for achieving sales and profit targets and ensuring OPEX and productivity across the brand at all levels; office, field and POS

  • Protect and maintain brand equity, philosophy, image and policy through brand execution

  • Use innovative thinking to increase market share and opportunities to drive granular growth

  • Drive step-changing online and offline execution, fuelling best practices and addressing local issues whilst being the centre of excellence as the home market

  • Lead with a Consumer-first mindset across all aspects of the business

Develop and Execute Brand Go To Market Regional Strategy:

  • Ensure implementation of top door strategy across the region with strong local execution of marketing programs

  • Define distribution /channel strategy across the region

  • Work with Regional and Global Brand counterparts to devise UK & Ireland strategy in line with global brand strategy, which clearly outlines new growth opportunities

  • Work with global brand to develop specific products, tools (including VM) and brand assortment as needed in region and specific distribution channels to support execution plans

  • Define and oversee UK /ROI Marketing and media calendar

  • Ensure consistency of implementation and correct positioning across region with regard to pricing, product assortment, marketing calendar, and media strategy

  • Increase market share and manage mix of business in line with brand / regional direction to drive growth in all channels including online

  • Ensure an integrated execution across all key functional areas with special attention to major launches (including post launch analysis whilst concurrently driving basic business

Leads and Develops People & Infrastructure:

  • To lead, motivate, educate, train and develop people and teams within the brand - building a strong team at all levels to ensure current and future succession for the brand

  • Define the structure and organization with agility building an organization relevant to the retail environment

  • Identify career development needs and conduct appropriate succession planning.

  • Identify Brand training needs. Ensures that strengths and skills of personnel are developed; monitors training with further coaching and counseling as needed.

  • Ensure active succession planning and talent management of key positions and individuals within the brands.

  • Sets targets for all employees within the brand including our employees in the office, field and at the POS

Ensure Local Relevance, Sharing Regional Insight with the Global Team and Embed Best Practices:

  • Works in partnership with other brands on joint projects and studies to optimize Brand/corporate performance and gain better market position.

  • Step changing “in-store” execution, fuelling best practices and addressing local issues; negotiating benchmarking the best, leading retailers and teams to execute with a consumer first mind-set

  • Collaborate and build relationships with key senior internal and external stakeholders to identify and leverage growth opportunities

  • Drive development of the brand to leverage consumer insights and knowledge of the UK retailing landscape, UK and EIRE trends, competitor activities, products and markets turning insights into actions

  • Manages achievement of sales objectives through planning, executing, and monitoring marketing, sales, advertising, and promotional activities, as well as cost of goods and stock levels


  • University degree or equivalent operating level with relevant experience, including substantial management and leadership experience

  • Significant experience in both senior marketing and sales / commercial roles

  • Experience leading large and diverse teams across retail and digital including those at the POS;

  • Expertise in leading a luxury brand

  • Proven experience of successful negotiations with senior stakeholders both internally and externally

  • Proven experience of managing complex P&L's, ideally with portfolio management experience

  • Experience working in a matrix organisation

  • Have a challenger mindset; pushing boundaries and leading innovation think tanks

  • Ability to inspire and motivate large teams

  • Demonstrates kindness and collaboration in all interactions

  • Strong understanding of the digital landscape

  • Strong communication, influencing and management skills
