This position is directly responsible for creating and maintaining the regulatory technical integrity/status on every raw material and product distributed worldwide by the Estee Lauder Companies. Accordingly, this position provides direction to the organization and management on market acceptability based on local regulatory requirements and the global regulatory environment. Serves as a technical regulatory expert to R&D Management, Legal and other Departments. Provides expertise to assure global regulatory compliance.
Provides and maintains technical regulatory oversight for all raw materials and products. This includes regulatory review of every raw material for compliance globally.
Contributing expert advisor on implementation initiatives to meet business and Regulatory mandates. In this capacity initiates review of ELC products/raw materials, provides an assessment of the impact of a change in regulation / regulatory status of a raw ingredient, deadlines/regulatory implementation dates.
Informs management about new regulatory requirements, assesses impact and initiates actions.
Provides technical regulatory expertise to R&D formulation teams whereby regulatory knowledge is called upon for direction and assurance of compliance during the product development phase.
Provides technical support to Product Registration on queries from governments on raw materials.
Supports Legal, Marketing, QA, Public Affairs and Global Communication in providing technical information in response to consumer, NGO and government challenges.
Provides industry leadership as a contributing and leading member on appropriate scientific committees in US cosmetic and/or other global cosmetic trade associations.
Ph.D in organic chemistry or biochemistry
10 years of experience
High degree of time critical, analytical problem solving skills; excellent time management and organizational abilities to meet important issue deadlines; knowledge of cosmetic ingredients and their chemical functionalities; knowledge of global regulatory processes for ingredient acceptability /status. Excellent written and oral skills. Ability to communicate technical regulatory and scientific information to non-scientific audiences. Multi-national cosmetic industry experience including cosmetic trade association participation.
