The Executive Director reports to the Vice President and Assistant Treasurer and manages the Capital Markets and Capital Planning teams within the Corporate Treasury group. Leads a staff of four professionals.

The position has responsibility for the direction and management of the Company’s capital structure strategy. This includes optimizing the utilization and efficiency of financial assets, advising on appropriate leverage levels, and recommending strategies for cash distributions to shareholders (buybacks, dividends). Additionally, the Executive Director will focus on working capital management, the effective investment of cash on hand and the efficient management of the balance sheet to enhance shareholder returns. This role also has responsibility for managing the overall exposure to financial market risks, specifically foreign exchange and interest rate risks. The Executive Director will function as the Company’s Capital Markets expert, keeping abreast of developments across the debt, equity, foreign currency and interest rate markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish strategies that will optimize the Company’s capital structure and maximize long-term total shareholder returns. Analyze and recommend optimal uses for available cash including the appropriate mix of shareholder distributions between dividends and share repurchases. Develop presentations for Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors, providing the supporting analyses behind key recommendations

  • Evaluate, negotiate and execute debt capital market transactions to maintain financial strength, flexibility and adequate funding at the lowest cost of capital. Manage the Company’s $1.5 billion Commercial Paper program and global credit facilities

  • Manage relationships critical to successfully preserve access to the debt capital markets, such as credit rating agencies (e.g., S&P, Moody’s) and with major global financial institutions

  • Oversee the Company's share repurchase program. Develop and implement cost-effective strategies for executing share buybacks

  • Work closely across the global business units and functions to assess and forecast foreign currency exposures. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate the potential adverse impact on earnings and cash flow. Create management reports that effectively measure the impact of the Company's hedging programs

  • Negotiate and execute derivative transactions to hedge FX and interest rate risks. Ensure appropriate accounting is applied to all financial instruments including conforming to U.S. GAAP requirements

  • Manage the short and long-term global balance sheet and cash flow forecasting processes and help identify opportunities to drive additional free cash flow

  • Strategically analyze Estee Lauder's cash requirements to meet its short and long term operating requirements and develop optimal investment strategy to maximize interest income while protecting and preserving principal

  • Assess Treasury-related processes and procedures and drive innovative solutions that will create efficiencies within the organization

  • Provide corporate finance expertise and guidance to the Brands, Regions and Functions

  • Ongoing development of team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or quantitative discipline, with an MBA required

  • Ten or more years of professional experience that includes some combination of Treasury and Corporate Finance

  • Strong knowledge of capital structure strategy, financial forecasting, and foreign currency risk management

  • Ability to drive key process improvements and effectively manage priorities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
