Manager, Raw Material Management

This position will manage special and routine cross-functional projects and assume broad project responsibilities.

  • Lead Raw Material Management’s technical work on cross-functional projects, ensuring agility, efficiency, and excellence.

  • Independently handles raw material corporate programs and raw material replacement coding, including registering the materials in RDS and publishing a status report

  • Manage an established team of 3-5 people.

  • Influence key stakeholders in R&D Sustainable Design, Regulatory, Global Supplier Relations departments to ensure alignment on raw material initiatives.

  • Effectively communicate project status with supervisor, key project members, and senior management.

  • Set and improve departmental and organizational processes, systems, and policies/procedures in collaboration with other functions and in line with corporate values and initiatives.

  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain necessary documentation to support corporate programs (e.g. natural/organic derived) and worldwide product registration.

  • Track, analyze, and report/publish data, identifying trends/themes to inform strategy.

  • Train RMM and other R&D groups on new raw material programs and initiatives.

  • Educate/inform suppliers of new or changing requirements and objectives.

  • Stay current on evolving industry regulations and sustainability trends (e.g. RSPO palm oil).

  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities related to raw materials.

Decision Making: Creates departmental policies and procedures and sets direction for project completion (30%)

Independence of Action and Accountability: Works independently with minimum supervision to drive project progress (50%).

Problem Solving: Evaluates raw materials for appropriate documentation for acceptability. Works with suppliers and manufacturers to discuss and resolve technical issues (20%).


Requirements include:

  • Experience managing multiple, disparate projects simultaneously.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

  • Ability to train and mentor team members and improve the technical performance of the department.

  • Experience working in a regulated environment.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills for high-level interaction with management, chemists, suppliers, and other functions.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Highly analytical and comfortable with large data sets, can synthesize information and offer recommendations/solutions.

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Power Point.

University Degree (BA or BS) in Science or Business

5-8 years minimum experience
