Description

-Manages day-to-day sunscreen testing to ensure timely execution of the in vivo and in vitro studies (sample registration and release, study protocol and report, data analytics and communication). Serve as the responsible person for SPF test for ELC.

-Serve as the subject matter expert for sunscreen related issues and advise on the testing and clinical strategy for SPF products. Represent the company in trade association and external scientific conferences for related topics.

-Monitor/audit external laboratories to ensure fully compliance with internal and external requirement.

-Identify gaps and risks wherever possible and develop plans to better understand SPF formulation and testing consistency

This position serves as subject matter expert for sunscreen testing in the clinical team to support testing program related to SPF products for Estee Lauder company. This position will also work closely with external CRO in US and EU to independently conduct in vivo and in vitro testing to support SPF product claims and launches, following regulatory requirements and standards.

This position needs to possess excellent clinical operational skills and be able to manage multiple projects independently under minimal supervision and deliver results in a timely fashion. He/She will interact broadly with internal stakeholders (product development, safety, operational, chemists) to ensure the testing plan and execution meet short- and long-term business need. He/She will also interact with external partners including CRO and investigators to ensure the external capability can be fully leveraged and developed over time. This position will be responsible for drafting/reviewing study plan, study protocol and informed consent, site and investigator selection, study scheduling, study monitoring and investigator engagement, reviewing study report and data analysis, as well as summarizing study result and presenting data to internal and external audience.

He/She will be also be the SME for all things related to sunscreen testing. This may include a deep understanding of the photo-test both in vivo and in vitro, understanding the GCP requirement and requirement from different regulatory bodies around the world, understanding the limits and variables that may contribute the the test result and interpretation. He/She will stay on top of the trend in SPF formulation and testing development and advise on new techniques and/or testing strategy when applicable.

This position may need to supervise a junior scientist or a contractor.

Qualifications

-10 years of relevant R&D experience in skin care, cosmetics, dermatology or other related fields.

-Must have previous experiences in sun protection and sunscreen testing (in vivo and/or in vitro), good clinical practice. Understand skin biology and physiology. Must have experiences working with external labs or CRO.

-Strong technical skills. Independent problem solver. Effective communication skills

-Experiences in working with multiple stake holders and multiple priorities and deliver results in a timely fashion.

-Master of Science in relevant field. Ph.D preferred

-20% travel time
