Dedicated material scientist with plastics processing expertise to drive sustainability in packaging; working closely with ED Package Developer – Sustainability
Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Sustainable Materials: Plastics Packaging materials, Plastics Processing, bio-sourced materials / nonwovens, Paper and Glass
Demonstrated knowledge in impact of coatings, printing and decorations on packaging sustainability
Experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Recycling analysis
Co-lead initiatives as it relates to packaging waste processing, recyclability, reusability and biomaterials.
Identify and implement new/emerging materials and processing technologies to address environmental challenges and guide development of comprehensive package testing plan.
Working closely with Package Development, Material Science, Formulation, Procurement, Quality and external suppliers, lead building the sustainability technical knowledge of the global packaging team, helping to improve the technical expertise, efficiency and effectiveness of the team. The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams is essential.
Deliver creative sustainable materials and technology solutions in converting current ELC packaging to reusable self-sustainable / alternative forms by partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to delight consumers.
Maintains healthy cross-functional relationships and builds matrix relationships outside of immediate team including material suppliers
Stay abreast of current sustainability trends as it relates to packaging and trending sustainable materials through market research, trade show visits and external partnerships
M.S degree in Plastics Engineering or equivalent and 5 years direct experience in packaging sustainability, preferably in rigid plastics and flexibles
Broad packaging component and material knowledge with experience in bottles, closures, tubes, delivery systems and flexible packaging, and relative processing technologies such as injection molding, blow-molding, extrusion, etc.
Demonstrate understanding of consumer trends as it relates to sustainability
Ability to identify the latest emerging technologies in sustainability for technology-transfer to ELC application
Able to demonstrate a general understanding of project management to realize the order, importance, and impact of appropriate project activities and maintain commitments to project schedules.
Able to provide technical analysis of sustainable packaging materials and provide feedback to project teams with respect to design and manufacturing viability
Able to develop technical specifications for sustainable packaging materials and technologies new to the beauty industry / ELC.
