nder the general supervision of the line supervisor and or guidance of an assigned work leader, performs skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery, and systems that support the Tech Services Manufacturing and Distribution Operations. Tasks include mechanical troubleshooting, minor tear downs, overhauls, installations, component replacements, and other actions necessary to keep operations at optimum productivity and quality. Tasks involve independent judgment and problem solving skills. Maintains stock levels, stock records, requisitioning records, and computerized maintenance records.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Receives assignments from Plant Engineering Supervisor or general instructions from Supervisor of respective area.

  2. Operates, repairs and maintains equipment, machinery and systems that support the Manufacturing and Distribution Operations. These include purified water systems, kettles, mixers, pumps, mills, conveyors, material handling equipment, drives, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  3. Responsible for the safe and proper operation of systems and equipment in compliance with OSHA, and other environmental regulatory requirements.

  4. Responsible for, quality, efficiency, preventive maintenance and cleanliness of equipment, machinery and systems. Documents all work completed in compliance with ISO, cGMP/FDA regulatory requirements.

  5. Performs skilled maintenance tasks either independently or in terms, such as: trouble shooting, installations, adjustments, calibrations, preventive, predictive and other maintenance and overhauls.

  6. Takes classroom training (both on and off site), on the job training, and as required instructs others.

  7. Is knowledgeable of, applies, and follows all plant environmental, industrial health and safety rules pertaining to assigned work, including the proper maintenance, employment and use of Personnel Protective Equipment. Performs emergency response tasks and confined space entry as assigned.

  8. Responsible for effective and efficient use of materials. Maintains written and computerized logs, records, forms and systems that support the manufacturing and distribution operations, environmental compliance and safety.

  9. Interprets and uses manufacturer’s equipment specification manuals, and blueprints as a base of knowledge for technical reference.

Performs other duties as assigned and required.

MACHINES /INSTRUMENTS USED:

Hand tools, shop tools, measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers. Calculators, computers, data collection and recording devices. Various types of materials handling, rigging and lifting equipment. Operates systems such as: compressed air, vacuum, and purified water delivery.

Qualifications

  1. High school graduate and or trade school graduate with specialized training in mechanical technology.

  2. 5 to 8 years previous experience with manufacturing and distribution equipment and support systems. Cosmetic, pharmaceutical and or food processing industry preferred.

  3. Must be able to perform work requiring manual dexterity, climbing, lifting, and working at heights and in confined spaces where advanced mechanical aptitude is required.

  4. Must be thoroughly knowledgeable with: mechanical drives and couplings, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components, control diagrams, schematics, manufacture’s technical literature, rigging, hoist and cranes, welding, all shop and hand tools, measuring tools, conveyor systems, trouble shooting logic control, kettles, pumps, mechanical seals and other sealing devices.

  5. Must have and maintain a good attendance record.

  6. Must work in a neat and safe manner.

  7. Must have good interpersonal skills.

  8. Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

  9. Must be detail orientated
