This Scientist position is in the Makeup Innovation Lab. The candidate must be a competent individual contributor who will be responsible for utilizing his/her creativity to provide innovative products/concepts. The individual will be expected to work with minimal supervision on multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity. He/she will develop new product ideas/concepts that will provide future growth for the company. The individual will ensure timely completion of product development activities according to the schedule.

  • Actively develops new makeup formulations. Designs and conducts experiments requiring the selection of equipment and materials for the delivery of the project. Makes constructive contributions to product formulation.

  • Works with package innovation team to develop complete product offerings that substantially differs from or exceeds current products and technologies.

  • Conduct patent searches, be able to read, write and file patent proposals.

  • Conduct research based on topics of special interest and develop product applications based on research.

  • Follows projects from concept to prototype development to pilot stage. Assures that all testing to guarantee a marketable product is on schedule.

  • Determines stability of the formulations and ensures commercial feasibility.

  • Participates in brainstorming meetings and provides out of box thinking ideas.

  • Stays abreast of developments in cosmetic field and continues to demonstrate continuous performance improvement. Reviews and prepares analysis of emerging cosmetic technology.

  • Coordinates and collaborates with all R&D departments and support groups, QA, Technical services, Manufacturing and NY Product Development.

  • Must comply with all Safety and PPE procedures.

Qualifications

-BA or BS degree in relevant scientific field (Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering)

At least 2 years technical experience in the cosmetic Industry. Knowledge of OTC protocols a plus. Proficient in Microsoft office applications.
