This newly formed new business group will be responsible for finding new business leads and closing deals that grow the Aveda network. The team will be led by a new business director and will have 6 new business development managers. This role will execute a modernized new business process for NA Aveda including the new business sales pitch, the hunting process, sales training needs (in collaboration with Education), steps to close a deal and help to create/maintain a Salon Concierge program to ensure success within the newly signed salon’s first year. This team will also be responsible for connecting with their peers at our distributors to align on best new business practices.

This individual must be able to assess the salon/spa landscape, love the chase of cold calling and have a relentless focus to win. The individual will also need to ensure that each new partner meets Aveda’s guidelines, mission and procedures. A strong relationship with the field sales employees will be critical as this partnership will help to enable stronger results for both sides. This person will need to be comfortable in a matrix organization where communication and collaboration are critical.

Meets or exceeds quarterly new business development plan: 80% of time

  • Assess current process including Distributor models to create a stronger NA Aveda New Business program.

  • Partner with Director of New Business Development to enhance and execute new business strategy and process, including national account strategy.

  • Create and enable ways of working with peers and SDPs – understand how to best work and engage them in your efforts – nothing can be done in a silo.

  • Utilize Lifestyle Department for pre-approval of all Concept and Lifestyle Salons

  • Prospect market leaders in key cities regularly

  • Recruit new salons in accordance with distribution strategy

  • Enroll salon in most appropriate model for their business

  • Develop 90 Day ramp-up plan including education; opening door, sales & education specialist introduction. Lay out success plan for first year that will be executed by the SDP and Partner

Relations team.

  • Present new salons, including investment, for Sales Leaders to approve

  • Adhere to budget guidelines for new business investment. Negotiate within set parameters.

  • Receive & Service all in-coming leads in territory within 48 hours

  • Execute new salon recruitment events

  • Achieve new business dollar goal by quarter

  • Meet qualified Lifestyle partner goal yearly

  • Develop pipeline up to eighteen months out

  • Set up opening

New Business Team Collaboration/Transformation: 10% of time

  • Play an active role in sharing success tips among the new business team

  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with peers and Director to ensure team success across the country

  • Discuss barriers to success and create action plans to resolve. Continual improvement mindset to evolve the approach and process

  • Share learnings with VP of Sales and GM

SDP/Education Transition Upon Openings of New Salons: 10% of time

  • Collaborate with local SDP and retail specialists on transition plan upon salon opening

  • Create transition plan process with broader new business team to ensure a successful transition.

  • Work with Salon Administration on logistics and ensure all next steps are in good hands.



Ability to understand financial and sales reports. Computer proficiency including PowerPoint/ability to build strong presentations. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrates superior customer service skills. Ability to work core schedule of Monday through Friday or as business dictates (i.e. some nights & weekends will be necessary in hair/salon industry). Extensive travel. Must possess a valid driver’s license & proof of vehicle insurance. Ability to lift over 30 lbs. Ability to transport own luggage when necessary.
