  • Position based in New York City

  • Work closely with senior trademark counsel to provide legal advice on all aspects of trademark and copyright law

  • Review and analyze trademark search reports

  • Prepare memoranda to clients regarding availability of proposed marks

  • Review trademark watch notices

  • Work with senior members of Legal Trademark team on negotiation and drafting of license, co-existence and settlement agreements

  • Own U.S. prosecution of trademark applications across all ELC brands, including substantive responses to Office Actions

  • Advise clients on proper usage of trademarks, including potential risks and issues

  • Manage outside counsel in connection with conflict matters

  • Advise and consult with clients in all levels of the organization, including senior leadership, to identify critical legal issues, assess potential legal options, and provide individuals and teams with an analysis and range of possible legal solutions, all in the areas of trademark and copyright law

  • Exercise independent judgment related to company legal matters

Qualifications

Minimum Education level: JD from top law school

Minimum Years of Experience: 5-7 Years

Required Language Proficiency: English

Licenses or Certifications: Admission in good standing to the Bar of the State of New York

Additional Job Specifications (e.g., physical demands, working conditions, equipment/machinery, specific skills, etc.):

  • JD from a top law school

  • 5-7 years firm experience

  • 2 years in-house experience

  • Consumer products industry experience preferred

  • Member of the New York State bar

  • General knowledge of US and international trademark law, policies, and processes

  • Global experience

  • Ability to form strong relationships with business leaders and serve as a counterpart to the Marketing & Creative Operation teams

  • Ability to execute in a complex matrixed environment
