About the Job

The Estee Lauder Companies are seeking an experienced marketing communications practitioner to continue expansion of one of their fastest growing communication channels: influencer marketing. The Director, Global Influencer Marketing, Consumer Engagement, Corporate Marketing is responsible for providing critical thinking and thought leadership as a member of the Global Consumer Engagement Center of Excellence. They will report to the Executive Director, Global Consumer Engagement, Corporate Marketing. The individual will partner closely with the Director, Global Media and Director, Global Digital Content.

The role is responsible for determining how to accelerate the influencer marketing practice across the portfolio of prestige beauty brands. They will do this by understanding and interpreting consumer insights, communication strategy, industry and marketplace knowledge. This person is able to link business strategy to communications strategy and translate the communication strategy into optimal influencer partnerships.

About Your Responsibilities

Global Strategic

  • Interpret the global brand consumer engagement briefs to ensure that influencer activations delver consistency in brand message, tone of voice and creative representation

  • Dissect business and consumer data to develop insightful influencer solutions that support paid, owned, earned and shared consumer engagement touchpoints along the path to purchase

  • Support the development of influencer strategies that bring brand strategy to life in a creative and resonant way to drive scale, amplify a brand story, educate and inspire consumers, while improving social sentiment and recognition

  • Continue to refine the influencer selection and management process in support of long-term relationships, seasonal collaborations and ad-hoc tactical executions

  • Develop framework for distribution of influencer content across paid, owned and earned outlets to yield sufficient levels of exposure to desired audiences and quality engagements

  • Oversee management of internal influencer database and third-party databases

  • Build transparency across the portfolio to ensure operational governance and avoid pricing cannibalization between ELC brands

  • Lead the development and implementation of benchmarking and measurement standards to improve tracking of the effectiveness of influencer programs - the impact on brand health and ROI

  • Partner with Global Analytics team to define sources, structure, content and cadence of reports inclusive of insights and clear recommended actions

  • Lead the negotiations of agency and technology SOWs for the global portfolio with key enterprise partners

  • Stay informed of platform updates across YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, search engines, editorial publishers and emerging digital platforms.

North America Execution

  • Oversee influencer agency negotiations and contracting

  • Craft and communicate investment tiering and receivables guidelines

  • Demonstrate an expertise and up to date knowledge of the influencer landscape, including software developments

  • Assist brands in identifying appropriately relevant current events and pop-culture moments to shape influencer partnerships with a lens on what it means for the brand and if / how the brand has a right to play in the territory

  • Network, develop and strengthen relationships with talent and talent representatives

  • Identify emerging talent and opportunities for first to market partnerships – considering reach against a targeted audience based on core demographic, mindsets, interests and behaviors

  • Continuously review and assess the competitive environment

  • Stay up to date on applicable FTC guidelines and ensure ELC compliance

  • Work alongside the leads of other COEs (media, content, retail, cultural relevancy, analytics) to build best-in-class programs

  • Partner with the Content COE to develop playbook for influencer programs content guidelines

  • Monitor the balance of fee-based expenditures and measurable activity across the portfolio

Educational Programming

  • Thought Leadership

  • Identify, recommend and facilitate relevant topics for a Consumer Engagement Knowledge Sharing Forums

  • Track the foundational knowledge upskilling of this forum through success metrics, brand feedback

  • Prepare internal reporting and merchandising collateral as needed for leadership and key constituents

  • Identify, recommend and facilitate influencer panels

  • Continuous Learning: Newsletters & Playbooks

  • Source content for monthly CE newsletters

  • Provide timely updates on any platform / policy changes

  • Craft and evolve platform playbooks to distribute influencer best practices globally

Measurement & Analytics

  • Serve as a liaison between the Influencer Marketing COE and the Corporate Marketing Business Sciences and Analytics teams

  • Establish process and structure to help the team operate more effectively and efficiently

  • Sets appropriate KPIs for the function and all initiatives

  • Interpret performance results and provide future forward recommendations to the brands

  • Identify and explore new measurement opportunities for assessing the ROI of influencer investments



About You

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 10 Years of related work experience in a communication/marketing/talent agency and/or a combination of in-house public relations / marketing communications experience. Preferred verticals experience: Beauty, Fashion, Lifestyle, Retail and / or CPG

  • Experience in being part of a multi-practice team working toward a common goal/deliverable

  • A culture watcher - passion for pop-culture and its infusion into the consumer brand ecosystem

  • A natural relationship-builder

  • Strong work examples demonstrating exemplary leadership, positive industry relationships, ability to deliver strategic council and successfully troubleshoot issues

  • A keen understanding of financial and operational performance to ensure quality work, deadline and budget adherence

  • Experienced in digital analytics and social listening tools, measuring campaign performance and analyzing metrics to support overall influencer strategy

  • Comfortable in delivering on short-term goals, while creating sustainable long-term value for the future

  • Experience with Popular Chips and/or Synthesio is a plus
