Work in tandem with Executive Director on Eye / Collections & Collaborations Segment on the innovation and development of high-quality, highly-relevant new products, franchise extensions and subcategory innovation that meet brand strategy and consumer targets. Partner with Product Marketing to build Calendar initiatives and stay on “racetrack” timelines. Candidates must have 8 years of Product Development experience in addition to being independent, professional and flexible, have exceptional communication skills, have proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and possess the ability to independently manage multiple tasks efficiently.


  • Have a deep understanding, passion and curiosity for the makeup market/industry trends, from ingredient, texture, form, claims and storytelling aspect

  • Have finger on the pulse of the consumer and social media aspect of benefit, performance and package delivery trends. What is being used, how and why

  • Analyze and interpret data, consumer insights, macro and beauty trends GLOBALLY to identify portfolio need gaps and new opportunities and translate into consumer-centric concepts

  • Work with MAC Makeup artists to identify new concepts, techniques, benefits etc for use in product development

  • Design the look, feel and performance of products to meet a strategic market need within the portfolio

  • Be able to visually and verbally communicate complex product concepts, positioning and attributes through PowerPoint (buzz word sheets) and product profiles

  • Determine list of needed product claims to lead the trend, meet market entry and develop product differentiation

  • Work with marketing on product architecture and future innovation pipeline

  • Meet with Outside Vendors to leverage external technologies and trends to influence conceptualization

  • Attend trend presentations, trade shows, and outside vendor meetings to support the team in reviewing formula prototypes and track upcoming trends

  • Present concepts to cross-functional teams and senior leadership for approval and buy in


  • Possess high level project management skill set while working cross-functionally with internal teams to meet timelines (GBSC, Marketing, Creative Ops, GSR, Packaging, Claims, R D, Artistry, Education and Legal)

  • Communicate and collaborate with R D on creating formulas that meet texture and performance needs

  • Communicate and collaborate with OV on creating formulas that meet texture and performance needs

  • Drive towards priorities with R D by leading a bi-weekly touch base for enhanced communications

  • Manage Monthly Claims/R D touch base to manage process for developing strong product claims and creating the testing for claims. Work with R D and the Claims team to execute, while consulting Legal on verbiage and final claims

  • Collaborate and drive innovation with the Packaging team marrying formulas with new and different packages

  • Collaborate and consult the regions to understand need gaps and trends. Work intimately with Asian PD Lead and KIH to develop APAC specific products which tend to be much more technical and targeted

  • Manage a product through the production lifecycle upholding quality and safety from lab, to pilot to production

  • Oversee extra pieces for internal meetings, creative needs, backstage and artist testing, regions, etc. to help cascade new product innovation

  • Attend and participate in Program Review and PPD meetings every other week

  • Manage relationships with outside vendors. Review and formulate with outside vendors depending on programmatic needs. Oversee the entire development process with OV (including OV R D) to request QQs, achieve PFA and meet development milestones

  • When needed develop/shade onsite at the lab

  • Liaise with QA to ensure standards for products are renewed to spec

Communication and Messaging:

  • Present product knowledge, benefits and positioning at sales meetings and retailer meetings

  • Collaborate with Global Communications on talking points for product launches

  • Collaborate with Consumer Marketing on product knowledge to influence and enhance digital and social facing marketing

  • Work hand in hand with Editorial/Copy team to meet claims deadlines and product names ensuring accurate and appropriate verbiage

  • Collaborate with AT D to ensure training and artist materials are accurate and cohesive. Consult with AT D to inform product development needs including nomenclature and consumer/at counter insight


  • Relevant experience (8 years); colour background preferred

  • Undergraduate College Degree preferred

  • Strong skills in tactile/aesthetic evaluation of cosmetic products as well as the ability to communicate product understanding

  • Ability to think creatively and brainstorm new ideas to stay ahead of the market curve

  • Excellent organization, communication and follow-through skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Multi-functional, flexible, to handle ever changing priorities.

  • Strong written, oral, and presentation-based communication skills.

  • Job requires both domestic and foreign travel

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

  • Well versed in social media and social network activities and trends.

  • Experience with Asia/ China Consumer/ Region a plus
