Description

This individual will be responsible for the project management of corporate retail stores and branded cosmetic counters throughout the US. Responsibilities include all aspects of planning and execution of Estee Lauder Companies projects with Brand store designers, merchandisers and retail partners. This responsibility also includes oversight of all related project costs to meet approved capital requirements and contractual agreements.

  • Direct Reports may include Project Managers, Assistant Managers, Coordinators and Administrators

Principle Responsibilities:

Leadership role with comprehensive oversight of project management daily activities as it relates to the following key areas:

Daily Project Management

  • Ensure all projects are addressed in a timely manner and all necessary communications with retail partners are handled in a proactive and professional manner.

  • Maintain clear and accurate reporting of active, pending and completed projects with all key stakeholders including Brands and retail partners.

Design Development Phase

  • Coordinate with Brands to ensure approved designs are submitted to the Architect/Manufacturer for the preparation of construction documents on a timely basis.

  • Ensure design and construction documents meet all corporate requirements, and where possible, share best practices across brands.

  • Prepare preliminary cost estimates and construction schedules.

  • Assure the engineered integrity of products manufactured.

Bid Documents and Process

  • Oversee the accurate production of bid/construction sets and ensure the documents are completed in a timely manner.

  • Ensure all Project Documents are assimilated accurately and distributed and on time.

  • Partner with Internal Procurement to ensure projects go out to bid on schedule.

  • Partner with Internal Procurement to direct the evaluation and qualification of all bids and proposals through the consulting architect and or project team.

  • Provide direction for the Estee Lauder Companies supplied items through ELC Indirect Procurement and coordinate the delivery to job site.

  • Ensure that Estee Lauder Companies are receiving quality, service and fair pricing.

Construction Administration

  • Ensure that the construction of each project maintains Estee Lauder Companies best interests and best management of its assets.

  • Partner with ELC Indirect Procurement to evaluate vendor quality, service and economies of scale. Contract alternative methods via package discounts and value engineering.

  • Lead contract negotiations and insure that services, contractors, suppliers and vendors afford Estee Lauder Companies the best value, quality and economy.

  • Update all ELC business partners on all revisions to project specifications.

  • Award and process contracts. Ensure that they are timely, correct and executed.

  • Coordinate all necessary approvals, permits and documents to insure a professional and smooth running project.

Construction Closeout

  • Ensure a complete, clean and smooth turnover to store personnel and others.

  • Manage the consolidation of punch lists from Project Manager, store personnel and others.

  • Ensure that the punch list has been completed and signed off by store personnel, brand and landlord within 60 days of project completion.

  • Ensure that all final closeout documents are complete and correct on a timely basis.

Lead Planning and Development efforts for the following areas:

  • Lead and direct value-engineering alternatives as required and across brands where applicable.

  • Review, approve and implement specification revisions

  • Direct the coordination of functional design revisions as required for maintaining best practices.

Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports and key business partners through:

  • Mentoring, inspiring and supporting each direct report.

  • Oversight of daily activities and scheduling of each direct report.

  • Creating and maintaining active development plans for each direct report.

  • Ensure that all direct reports maintain fluency in their required skills and provide opportunities for continued growth.

  • Ensuring each direct report maintains the highest level of service and follows the ELC Code of Conduct.

  • Lead and maintain a strong working relationship with Corporate Real Estate and Finance, Corporate Retail Store Education, Corporate Planning & Development - Canada.

Budgetary/Financial Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the hiring of necessary consultants and for monitoring their costs against the fiscal budget.

  • Responsible for reviewing and approving construction cost estimates included in all capital and non-capital related projects.

Qualifications

  • 10 Years Retail Store Construction Management

  • Strong knowledge of store planning and construction methods

  • Proven experience leading teams and direct reports

  • Proactive, organized and detail oriented.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple tasks and varied personalities

  • Excellent analytical and communication skill along with exceptional computer literacy

  • Superior customer service oriented abilities to meet the needs of various in-house and external business partners.

  • Travel of up to 20% required

  • BS in Architecture or related field
