The Executive Director, Global Strategic Pricing (Data, Analytics & Insights) will be responsible for maintaining and developing ELC’s strategic pricing capabilities, developing ELC’s competitive price intelligence, and will help drive analytics and insights on pricing and promotion at The Estee Lauder Companies. The position will report to the VP Global Pricing & Marketing Investment and will work in close partnership with the Executive Director, Global Strategic Pricing (Brand Support), as well as with Finance and IT leadership across corporate, brands, and regions. This role is responsible for directly managing a small team and engaging across the wider ELC organization.

  • Maintain and develop ELC capabilities to enable price planning and reporting

  • Manage pricing models within the ELC pricing platform (Anaplan) and ensure accuracy of data and calculations while managing key partners (incl. vendors, IT and external development partners)

  • Lead the development and enhancements of pricing platform, including automation of data flows and improved reporting and visualization tools

  • Lead the future development of the pricing platform to improve the intelligence of pricing decisions, including leveraging algorithm driven models

  • Oversee delivery of global training program targeting finance and marketing (global, regional, affiliate) for education of basic pricing concepts, ELC pricing platforms, tactical instructions for pricing planning (new launches and annual planning)

  • Develop ELC’s competitive price intelligence capabilities and insights

  • Oversee the management of external partners used to capture competitive pricing intelligence

  • Integrate competitive price intelligence, market data (such as NPD), and internal data to better understand competitive positioning

  • Drive insights and develop analytics on competitive positioning and price movements, including promotions

  • Build the analytics and insight capabilities within the pricing function at ELC to support the strategic business choices within the business

  • Deliver regular and ad-hoc analysis on critical topics that support business decisions at the global/brand/region level; this will include, for example, category deep drives, promotional insights, price elasticity, channel profitability

  • Help drive the creation and completion of regular executive level update presentations, including the Global Pricing Steering Committee

  • Responsible for managing two team members plus additional interns, contractors, vendors as needed

  • Continue to find opportunities to build the skills and capabilities of the team

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think strategically

  • Strong inner drive to solve problems of all kinds, with a mindset of continuous improvement

  • Data-oriented, with a capacity for immersion/expertise in the details of the technical tools of the pricing data ecosystem, and comfort with large data sets and data ambiguity

  • Experience with Anaplan, SAP, Alteryx, and Tableau a plus

  • Ability to manage a small team, and partner successfully across brands/regions, as well as to build and drive relationships with vendors, to deliver required outcomes

  • Experience with managing broad portfolio of concurrent projects and ability to track/follow up (program office experience) including cross-functional efforts

  • Strategic consulting experience preferred

  • Beauty industry or consumer goods experience a plus
