PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE: Work in the research, initiation, evaluation, development and follow-through of new global product launches. Remain knowledgeable of new competitive introductions/industry technologies and determine how they can apply to the Tom Ford Beauty brand philosophy. Maintain the quality of the existing product line and generate changes in conjunction with Marketing. Drives the creative development process from concept through launch, including concept development, research, presentation and execution of both calendar and “off-calendar” projects. Works with VP on innovation strategy for Tom Ford Beauty. Position reports to Vice President Global Cosmetics Marketing and Product Development.


  • Manage all steps involved with new product launches under the direction of the Tom Ford Beauty Brand Strategy. This includes conceptualizing new product ideas, selecting prototypes, evaluating submissions, giving direction to chemists, overseeing in-house panel testing, establishing formula standards, and tracking projects on a day-to-day basis within allotted timelines.

  • Understand and communicate technologies as well as present information at 360-launch meetings with all cross functional teams.

  • Create comprehensive Product Development Fact Sheets for all new products which are utilized in Planning Guides, 360-Dossiers, and Flash documents from Marketing.

  • Keep abreast of all new competitive product launches. Issue comprehensive critiques of competitive products in the marketplace on a monthly basis, and review competitive formulas as possible base prototypes for new product introductions.

  • Conduct periodic market visits in order to stay abreast of regional trends and technologies (beauty and non-beauty related) which can be applicable for new concepts, communication opportunities, etc.

  • Perform an active role in new product brainstorming sessions with Marketing and R&D. Develop new concepts and present ideas to Marketing.

  • Work with senior team members on innovation strategy that align with the brand priorities and strategic goals.

  • Work closely with global R&D centers on new formulations, technologies, and consumer insights/ trends.

  • Work closely with BSR to develop relevant concepts that leverage new R&D technologies/ ingredients for categories of responsibility in skincare; effectively communicate technology/ scientific information to cross functional teams such as Copy, Marketing, Creative, Education, and PR.

  • Play an active role in the concept development, research, presentation and execution of innovation projects for potential calendar placement.

  • Represent the Product Development Department at pertinent internal meetings.

  • Gives presentations at RRT meetings, sales meetings, PR events, and podcast presentations which will require domestic and international travel.

  • Attend monthly status meetings with R&D. Includes issuing relevant agendas and recaps and ensure that all departments are updated on pertinent information necessary to direct the development of projects in a timely fashion.

  • Evaluates and approves existing product line maintenance and reformulations.

  • 10 years related experience

  • Bachelors’ Degree or Equivalent

  • Position requires experience in product development

  • Superior product evaluation skills.

  • Must possess strong creative skills and have a persuasive communication style.

  • Be able to convey ideas in a concise and clear way.

  • Working knowledge of key computer programs is required.

  • Moderate travel.

  • Must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills with R&D personnel, as well as all levels of management of Marketing, Sales, and Education, Packaging, GBSC, Creative, P.R. and Copy teams.

  • Must demonstrate strong problem-solving capabilities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of management.

  • Strong organization and planning skills.
