Principle Objective:

Actively enable the Brands and R&D to create greater value based upon local/cultural intelligence and identified technology, subcategory, product and execution opportunities. Lead near and mid-term commercial and product innovation projects that provide expertise to the brands and R&D which can increase growth and relevancy with skin of color consumers. The scope of work includes specific insights/tensions, technical insights, new or re-framed concepts, innovative or opportunistic application of technology charters/concepts, breakthrough approaches to creative and technical story-telling, relevancy of claims/benefits, executional considerations and consumer experiences. Synergize opportunities where meaningful across priority markets/consumer groups to maximize scale and business impact.

Near term primary focus will be on NA/UK Multi-ethnic opportunities/acceleration.

Position to be based in NY with approximately 25% travel

Primary Responsibilities:

 Surface and provide new/emerging trends, consumer and technical insights to R&D/PD to fuel the Calendarized and upstream ELC pipeline development to accelerate growth with these consumers and/or are sources of new universal opportunities

 Be a source of expertise of North American/UK Multi-ethnic Regional priorities, challenges/opportunities to insure those considerations are incorporated into R&D briefings and sub category strategy analysis

 Conduct consumer, expert and influencer discovery to surface relevancy opportunities for action in development and commercial execution

 Be the expert on benefits, unmet and unarticulated needs to support R&D, R&D Category strategy, Global/Regional/Affiliate brands to insure that local/cultural relevancy opportunities are actioned via incorporation into category analysis, development plans and preserved in commercial execution

 Be the expert on where there are both synergies and differences between mature market multi-ethnic and priority emerging market skin of color consumer groups to action cross-regional opportunities.

 Partner with APAC R&D to leverage opportunities developed for APAC with skin of color consumers with similar concerns, aesthetic preferences

 Partner with Innovation/Regional/Brand Consumer Insights colleagues to insure a seamless flow of learnings; make recommendations for exploration that would be specifically beneficial to gain traction and accelerate with target consumer

 Monitor competitive lines/products and draw conclusions re their success/failure in meeting the needs of skin of color consumers. Highlight learnings, unique or niche opportunities where seen.

 Surface players and hero products that may not be on the radar for evaluation/analysis

 Partner with the SVP in development and deployment of toolkits and other materials that can action and accelerate big idea programs and existing hero products/franchises with these consumers in line with Corporate, Regional and R&D strategic priorities

Qualifications

 Requires 10 years of product marketing, product development experience (preferably global). Consumer insight experience/exposure a plus

 Beauty or related industry experience

 Excellent communication (particularly in-person oral communication and public speaking), interpersonal, negotiation, and persuasion skills to interact with the most senior levels at the Brands, Functions and Regions as clients

 Exceptional interpersonal skills of active listening, EQ and diplomatic temperament

 A strategic and critical thinker with strength in both analytical and creative capabilities

 Must have a passion for the multiethnic market, global cultures and corresponding interest in social and cultural trends
