The Vice President of Global Product Development, Makeup, will develop innovative products that drive aspiration of the Estee Lauder brand. Develops product pipeline that supports the key drivers of the Makeup strategy, with unique color products, stories, and complexion products that meets the needs of Estee Lauder women around the world.
- DEFINE MAKEUP INNOVATION STRATEGY:
Oversee development of ongoing product pipeline of all key makeup categories and hero franchises (Envy, Double
Ideate and present new product concepts to SVP and Senior Management.
Identify needs and portfolio gaps
Initiate competitive reviews of worldwide makeup activity, and maintain pulse on key emerging trends
Seek out and utilize consumer insights to drive innovation
LEAD NPL PRODUCT LAUNCH PROCESS:
Lead Makeup Product Development team throughout NPL process, partnering cross functionally with Marketing, R&D, Packaging, Education, Public Relations, Creative, and Quality Control:
Seek out story angles, new ingredients and associated imagery to support concepts.
Create positioning statements and Fact Sheets to support each new idea/innovation.
Present new product presentations (e.g. Product Turnovers) with R&D to Consumer Relations, Training, Creative, and International Groups.
Work with regions to ensure local relevancy in messaging and product propositions
Direct R&D in the detailed development of new or reformulated products, and travel to all Estee Lauder plants and Suppliers when needed.
Oversee product and claims testing. Initiate, track and report all test results.
Approve Lab Standard, FVL, Pilot and First Production Batches (on-site if necessary)
Review all PR bulletins, Education bulletins and Copy for alignment of communication as it was intended with development and ensure accuracy of content.
LEAD PD PARTNERSHIPS WITH CROSS FUNCTIONAL TEAMS:
Collaborate with chemists and technicians to develop highest quality formulas
Help design consumer test to ensure product quality.
Review product test results and provide recommendations to leverage in messaging and marketing
Work with R&D to generate claim opportunities for ongoing storytelling
provide clear direction to Packaging on all formulation aspects to support appropriate packaging developemtn ( ingredients, actives, viscosity, color, and formula limitations).
evaluate and approve proposed package submissions for evacuation, aesthetics, and functionality.
Present product details for new and existing portfolio
Review training templates.
Creative (Copy, Advertising, Design)
- Co-create product inspiration, messaging, and campaign themes
Create and maintain all product standards for new and existing products
Establish quality guidelines for new products.
Develop, lead, mentor and build a strong team.
Manage department budget
Undergraduate College degree; MBA preferred.
12 years relevant work experience in product development.
Proven track record of successful new product innovations.
Strong leadership skills, flexibility, and creative problem solving to successfully organize and manage multiple complex development programs.
Travel to International markets and suppliers required (up to 25%).
