Assistant Manager Markeing & Operations - Clinique (1 Year Contract)
VISUAL MERCHANDISING: DEPARTMENT STORES:
Manage the visual merchandising for Department Stores, ensuring new launches are captured, discontinuations are removed, all while maximizing profitability and capturing the brand’s overall culture/message
Develop artwork to communicate a compelling story to customers – ensuring graphics are appealing and educational, making claims where applicable, emphasizing entry level pricing, calling out allergy tested claims, etc. – aligning to both Clinique’s and Retailers merchandising guidelines
Oversee supplier relationships with the printing of graphics and production of parts, and monitoring it closely to ensure timely updates
Ensure Department Store updates are within budget
Accountable for new door openings (including in-store installations via 3rd parties, opening tester orders, etc.)
Responsible for ensuring that each door is up to standards – replacing broken fixtures, shipping in missing locators or graphics, etc.
Communicate any assortment changes to Operations/Planning to ensure proper sell down of removals and proper shipment of additions
Create Job starts for Department store, FSS and HBC Open Sell doors
Manage the windows artwork updates for HBC stores and FSS
o Seasonal meetings with Marketing Director to discuss programming and artwork.
o Meet with HBC visual team to gain approvals from retail partners
VISUAL MERCHANDISING: FREESTANDING STORES:
Liaise with Marketing and Visual Merchandising in updating in-store collateral, merchandising & assortments
Manage the production of Asian Door Collateral for Hero products and best sellers
Work with Visual Merchandising Manager, Corporate on job starts for FSS. Approve all artwork prior to sending to print. Work with print vendor to ensure all collateral is shipped on time and book installers where needed in store.
COLLATERAL & NON SALEABLE ALLOCATIONS:
Manage the overall sampling program within budget, strategizing on the plan by season for each retailer
Responsible for allocating all collateral and non-saleable SKUs across all channels of distribution in Canada
Forecast samples accurately, ensuring there are adequate quantities for various programs, including new launches and basic samples, while taking feedback from the field into consideration
Anticipate when samples will be used, alerting Demand Planning on when inventory will be needed, and roll forecasts when it is not shipped in the planned month
Determine the proper benchmarks to use when allocating (sales targets, % to plan, % growth, tiered door performance, assortments) to ensure resources are allocated strategically, ultimately providing doors with the proper support to be set up for success
Develop and manage monthly shipping plans to coincide with co-operative advertising, programming, and in-store events
Liaise with North American Collateral Operations to track the status of incoming non-saleable items to ensure on-time shipment to support marketing programs
Work closely with Customer Service to identify critical/time-sensitive promotions, ensure correct shipping, resolve any issues regarding mis-ships, and track delivery timelines
Communicate ship dates, on-counter-dates, quantities, and purchase order numbers to retailers to ensure items are shipped from their distribution centres to doors on time, devising solutions when issues arise
Ensure all non-saleable SKUs are shipped in the forecasted/budgeted month
Confirm that all non-saleable SKUs are active in the system along with the correct descriptions and unit packs
RETAILER RELATIONSHIP/INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
Liaise with retailers’ e-commerce teams to strategize and execute online promotions and sampling
Accountable for the re-work of non-saleable items (i.e. kitting and UPC labelling), working with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods
Update order forms based on seasonal launches, price changes, and discontinuations
Manage tester orders, monitoring quantities stores are ordering, and ensuring orders reflect correct SKU assortment
Manage the collateral profiles of each door, dictating to CA marketing the quantities needed for tester unit updates, posters, displays, and any other collateral
Manage locally negotiated events – track sales plans vs. actuals, produce print collateral, and determine ROI%
Conduct cost analysis to determine the appropriate balance between potential sales and cost of producing collateral and shipping samples/gifts
Develop and maintain a method for tracking results from events
Being the last person to review marketing programs to ensure they are executable from an inventory and timing standpoint
Ad-hoc reporting – pulling NPD, sell-thru, and mix of business reports as requested
Administrative tasks: FedEx shipping, no-charge orders, set-up of items in retailers’ systems, set-up for meetings, enter advertising spend into Passport
Assist the marketing and operations teams as needed (i.e. helping with approval of ads, revising artwork for merchandising units, assisting with the development of planograms, tracking boost orders, approving Optimum offers, etc.)
Act as the conduit between Marketing & Operations communicating any important information (i.e. notify Marketing about discontinuations, changes in volume code, door openings/closures, and notifying Operations about big programs or price changes, etc.)
Post-Secondary Education Required
5 Year Experience in a similar capacity
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Adobe.
Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
Highly organized and able to prioritize workload.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Service oriented individual, will have direct contact with Retail partners and Clinique Executives.
Previous retail experience preferred.
