  • Responsible for architectural design, detailing and management of the brands (Origins/Aveda/Darphin) at point of sale for Asia Pacific domestic retail distributions.

  • Assists Director to manage Store Design (SD) division and team by taking up leadership role and providing direction to the team & vendors.


  • Ensure Brand’s image is maintained at a consistent level of excellence within guidelines set forth by New York (NY) in order to achieve cohesive effect in terms of architecture, detailing and merchandising layouts.

  • Provides designs, technical drawings and specifications to market and chosen shop fitter for every new installation.

  • Consults with local Brand Managers to identify best locations within stores; analyzes traffic flow to guarantee customer interaction; analyzes architectural features; inspects sites to ensure cohesive design and faster approval process.

  • Educates affiliates and distributors to select locations that are most suitable to the brands’ needs; helps affiliates understand technical aspects of store design (i.e. reading drawings, explaining architectural terminology), checks for completeness of project request forms and the overall process.

  • Educates and updates new & existing shop fitters on new techniques, details and directions for store design.

  • Responsible as the interpreter for all designs.

  • Collaborates with Indirect Procurement (IP) on cost optimization and price templates.

  • Investigates, evaluates and qualifies new shop fitters for future markets and projects as needed.

  • Communicates with regional design groups on store appearance, informing all parties involved of any updates and/or revisions to standard details.

  • Develops “Punch List” (List of deficiencies) for each installation to ensure the compliance with design set.

  • Files and keeps clear, understandable records and project management tools of all stores for future use by Brand Managers, Merchandising and Store Design. This also includes providing support to Administrator for transmittal of electronic files for central archival purposes in New York.

  • Guide junior designers or new joins within the region by induction/orientation and manage circulation list for updating the wider Store Design Visual Merchandising (SDVM) network and vendors.

  • Work closely with Visual Merchandising (VM) team and other functions when required to ensure complete, synergized and articulated store presentation.



  • Degree in Design or Art School education preferred; creative and has formal training in architecture or interior design.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Interior or Architectural detailing and design. Relevant experience in the beauty and luxury industry will be an added advantage.

  • Able to design and draw scaled working construction drawing.

  • Experience on CAD programs preferably on Macintosh platform, skilled in VectorWorks and Photoshop.

  • Understands retail store design aspects, i.e. lighting, furniture design, detailing fixtures, etc. as well as the importance of maintaining consistency.

  • Has experience in graphics, layouts and interior signage with an understanding of traffic flow and human scale.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and a regional language.

  • Manages time and team productivity by challenging current processes and proposing better methods, communication and collaboration.

  • Good team player who works well with other designers and merchandisers.

  • Confident in communicating with others and conveying technical & design issues to markets and professionals.

  • Boosts and supports initiatives and changes as well as being able to lead and act on the agreed direction.

  • Presents in a professional manner, displaying an understanding of corporate image and conduct.

  • Must be adaptable to new computer technology and design programs.

  • Willing to travel often even when given a short notice.
