Regional Education and Retail Operations Manager - Regional Education, APAC

The Regional Education and Retail Operations Manager will be working closely with Regional Education Director, local affiliates and Global Education teams to develop retail competencies among the team, foster a spirit of teamwork and ensure execution to excellence. She/he shall work closely alongside the local Education Managers to ensure optimal in-store execution to drive productivity and growth in all counters and Free Standing Stores across the region. This position covers Asia Pacific region. Frequent travelling across Asia Pacific is required.

Implement effective retail education strategies/programs to develop high performance team to drive business profitability and client acquisition throughout the region; Work closely with local Education and Sales Managers to ensure education programs are meeting local needs and delivering optimal result; standard processes and tools are operated consistently.


1. Ensure Customer and Market Growth

  • Develop the local Education Managers with key retail competencies to drive productivity, ensure team have the necessary skills to achieve brand KPI’s e.g. productivity, conversion, IPT, AUS, service metrics etc.

  • Evaluate markets’ needs, work alongside the local Education Managers to identify and address training opportunities in the local market, lead the teams to high performance, support them to drive growth, conversion and client acquisition

  • Collaborate with Global and region to implement APAC-specific Retail Education program/tools and to ensure go-to market strategy is translated into action effectively. Supports distribution diversification through leading the execution of field support to drive the channels.

  • Identify and share best practices and develop and/or deploy relevant workshops regionally and locally.

2. Manage Retail Operational Effectiveness

  • Support planning and execution of Regional Education Meeting, conduct follow up meetings, market/store visits, co-facilitate retail or advanced education programs geared to specific needs to improve retail performance, counter managers’ retail excellence skills, and ensure seasonal schools strategies are translated into actionable deliverables to drive the success of key product launches, etc.

  • Conduct APAC retail task force group to identify regionally relevant education opportunities, highlight these to Regional/Global Education through regular feedback for local adaptation and implement training initiatives to drive growthImplement standard processes and tools to operate consistently across the affiliates and will ensure optimal in-store execution.

  • Establish a wider variety of operational activities, including, though not limited to stock planning, FSS operations and programs, human resources, store management, launch management, CRM program execution in store and priority door programs.

  • Works with markets to ensure the successful preparation, opening and ongoing development of new doors and reforms.

  • Implements retail tools and trackers to support sales measurement, retail strategies and coaching/ people development action plans.

3. Improve Business Processes and Retail Performance

  • Create roadmap to analyze opportunities, leverage best practices and suggest specific education strategies/workshop to ensure the development of key retail competencies within the markets.

  • Evaluate markets’ needs and competitors’ update, report recommendations/issues to regional management based on market visit feedback.

  • Innovate and evolve business process in the field and lead the Retail teams to high performance, support them to drive growth, conversion and client acquisition.

  • Establish & Monitor standard KPI’s (e.g. productivity, conversion, IPT, AUS, service metrics etc.) and provide qualitative feedback.

  • Supports distribution diversification through leading the execution of field support to drive the channels. eg. Sephora, Mecca.

  • To create strong partnership with education and all brand functions in the regional office as well as the affiliates.

4. Lead and Develop People

  • Lead by example and walk the talk. Develop career development programs to develop future leaders. Planning for future retail training and development needs.

  • Partner with Education Managers to review and improve field operations and capabilities.

  • Identify in-store coaching opportunities and development needs in all (key) stores.

  • Implement relevant programs to help develop team’s talents and capabilities through coaching, talent planning and motivation to drive results.

  • Build talents development of all Retail Roles (ie. Store/ Counter Managers, Sales Managers and La Mer Experts) through retail education program, aligns best practices around compensation at store level, motivation and incentive.

  • Drives succession plans in the markets.


  • University level education or equivalent

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant training or training-related experience, preferably in the skincare /cosmetics business

  • Strong understanding and prior experience of working in retail/operations background in skincare/cosmetics business would be advantageous

  • Decision making ability: Identify opportunities, needs, issues and priorities of the role, the team and the business opportunities.

  • Problem solving skills: Develop program and solutions that will result in sales growth, issue resolution, increased competency and skill advancement.

  • Independence of Action and Accountability: Work independently to develop contents, programs, time-lines for projects or programs
